thanks man. have not tried this yet, but seems promising. are you assigning the lfo to the comb and the lp or just one of them?

Gotta agree with this! I find the best thing about making music is trying stuff out. If its not good well try again until it is!

+1 for drawing your cutoff envelopes by hand. It's a bit tedious at first, but once you see how much control you have this way you'll have trouble ever going back to ad-hoc lfo automation again. This is especially good for both rising and falling saw ramps. But I have been disappointed with the lack of automation curves in Ableton so far which makes it near impossible to get a smooth sin like lfo by hand. Crossing my fingers they implement this in 9 cause it's really a big oversight by them IMO which other DAWs have easily included.
Why use quotations if you can't use them properly? I said nothing of the sort. I gave a description of the effect and gave an example of where you'd find it. Coki - Tree Trunk is another.

I see no example in your post, and I can use quotes just fine, I just dont like the looks of haivng more then one box per post.
Tree trunk is all sine lfo's, that might be your first problem.

Thats definitely a ramp lfo, surely?? Otherwise I'm a complete dunce and would appreciate if you could expand on how it's done, since it's that sort of rung-ladder/engine starting up sound I'm after.
I'm not sure I know which sound your after, but if it's a slow drop in pitch try turning up the portamento and playing a quick note( i'm talking 1/16 or even 1/32 of a bar) followed by a longer note lower on the keyboard. Adjust the time of portamento to the length you need.
