Good shits! I don't know much about studio one, but I'm intrigued. If you wouldn't mind pm'ing me your thoughts about the demo, I would appreciate it.

While I'm not so surprised at FL being the runaway winner (ie- number of PC owners, its history in dubstep, etc)... I am a bit surprised at Ableton still being so low.

I admit, I was slow to start using it as my DAW for a while. In OS9 I used CubaseVST for YEARS, in fact I kept my OS9 machine around for several years even after I had been playing gigs in Ableton in OSX...

However, the combo of wanting to use the same prog to compose as well as to perform... as well as the insanely convenient automation capabilities won me over. Once I switched, I started kicking myself for not switching sooner.. because as an instrumentalist for most of my life - it really is the best program to write in. Sketch out ideas in the session view live with wonderful immediacy... and hash it out in the arrangement view.

I respect anyone's choice for their craft - but for me, Ableton ticks all boxes, so I use it for live gigs, writing tunes, and doing dj sets.

I'm surprised at the lack of Reason users also. Early days poll-wise though.

Saw a recent poll on futuregarageforum and live was like 2x other daws. Saw something similar, if I recall, over on glitchhopforum. Seen more balanced results here in previous polls.

FL Studio clearly has the superior audio engine for teh filthy mid rangez, thus the popularity.

I think it's partly due to the hype FL Studio has been getting with it's FL10 update, or it's just one of those DAWs that is easy to get start out with (in my opinion).. hard to master [like every DAW]. Or maybe it's just a popular DAW over here in the DSF production forum :)

Yes I know, that was sarcasm :)

And this poll isn't to showcase in any way which DAW is best. Respect to all artists here no matter what tools and instruments you use of all ages, gender, location, influences, sexuality, etc!

Not intended to flame/troll...

but it is on topic so I thought I'd share - if for no other reason than amusement.

This was posted from Chris Randall today - developer for Audio Damage (one of my fave plugin companies)...

"All I can say is that I have full versions of every commercial DAW (except PT) and several open-source ones, on both PC and OS X, and I can use whatever I want to make my own music. I don't use Logic.

And I used to be endorsed by emagic.

That right there should tell anyone everything they need to know. "

hahahah lol... I especially like the "and I used to be endorsed by emagic" bit.

I must say after a few hours of tinkering with Studio One, I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Didn't take me long to get into the flow of things and personally I think it's one of the better interfaces in a DAW. The standard instruments/plugins are also very nice. Maybe after a week or two of working with it I'll post up some real thoughts about it :)

Yeah bro it is, but since it's fairly new it's hard to find good tutorials on it :x should probably finish rtfm anyway.

also i'm a little surprised at the lack of ableton voters! Always assumed it would be one the more popular ones heh
