I'm interested in the potential art he can create, as long as it's good that's all that matters to me generally, I'm not going to beg him to make stuff like he has done before when I can make it myself!

When I saw this pop up on my newsfeed I was very glad to read it. Simply because he was telling people exactly what he thinks about them wanting him to essentially recycle his music. I'm glad that he wants to take his music in new directions, his art shouldn't be restrained by fans of his old stuff, and I'm glad that he wont let it.

Fair play on that but it still feels like Bukem releasing Mr Happy.

Mr Happy was made by Hazard & D*Minds, nothing to do with LTJ Bukem and that's why I made the comparison. Bukem is the symbol of intelligent DnB and Mr Happy is like the "dumbest" tune I've ever heard.

Skream's still got it in him, his last album was really good. I wouldn't want him to go backwards and make tunes that sound like they're from 2005 but I am looking forward to the day he gets sick of this "tear-out" phase and starts playing and making tunes that have that amazing Skream quality again.

Which, he blatently will, he can't keep still musically, he's the most diverse producer I've ever known.

Thats why so many people love him, and by requesting him to make stuff similar to the older material he produced this fact is being ignored haha.Skream fb page said solid day in the studio today, oh how I wish i could hear some of the stuff he came up with just today haha.

everyone who's saying "i prefer his older tracks", "not feeling his new stuff", what new tracks are you talking about? the stuff on the free skreamizm album he gave out? mood 2 fuck? or things like i love you so, where you should be, the stuff aimed at the majority? to me, he's still pumping out good bass music, and that's all that matters

We had every possible thread here already, so what. It's a forum, I think that's the point. Considering Skream, the reason why I prefer his older tunes is because i think they are much better. It has nothing to do with the year they were produced. I listen to tons of music from the 80s, so as albums released 10 days ago. What does "evolution" in music even mean? Does it mean that every next song is supposed to be better than the last one? For example some Kraftwerk tunes sound much more fresh and modern than a lot of modern electronic music based on them. You can find Japanese compilations of electronic music from the 60s with concepts far more complex and avant-garde than a lot of obscure stuff released in the last 6 months. Long story short, Skream sees his latest production as a personal progress in his artistic expression and it's understandable that he will defend it. But a lot of other people who think he's gotten worse are not thinking "Make tunes like you made them in 2005.", they are thinking "Make tunes that are better than these because these suck". But, as a lot of you said, he made his own name completely by himself and he is entitled to do whatever the hell he wants, like he always was. Still, I think it's pathetic and unnecessary that he keeps getting involved in this kind of argument when a person of his reputation can afford the luxury to not give a damn and not even read about it.

What is there even to discuss?

The same lot that complains about his new stuff would probably still be complaining if he was making tracks similar to his early stuff. We'd probably hear people complain that "Skream needs to evolve his sound" and "he's done all of this before"

If you like his stuff, great. If you don't, GET OVER it and go listen to something else.

It seems like a new thread is created every time the man does anything.

Well he debuts new dubs on their in new dj's slot pretty much every show, frankly I tihnk alot of his tearout stuff is straight bangin, but I can see why some pople dont like it... Look up demented/nefarious stuff like that I think their bitching about...

Frankly i tihnk the ONLY disappointing thing skreams done in ages was pick a skrillex tune for the show jacker. Other then that he's done no wrong by me, lovin his filth.
