i automate a lot using this method apart from things like volume, panning and filter movements. its way better using the keyboard controller! also an easy way to get automation more precise is to resize the automation clip so its like the size of the whole screen (temporarily) & when you want to make completely horizontal automation lines all u have to do is place a point, right click & choose "copy value" then paste value on your next point.
dead easy & i use that option quite often.
