Doubt it's him following the trend. Probably just due to his taste in music changing from time to time. I do it all the time, it's better than just staying with one sound and it becoming stagnant for you.
Just listened to that Stabs tune aswell and it's so sick. Heard it on Loefah's Rinse and was really feeling it then.
Whether he is following the trend or not, these tunes are bangin'.

what does this even mean? if the tunes are good does it really matter what the dude's history is? also how is making tunes in different styles somehow automatically a pejorative thing?

ok - its a clear rip off of what addison groove and ramadanman have been making in the last yr or so. i'm not singling out a1 bassline alone on this, as a lot have been in the last few months down to a certain few high-profile djs supporting this type of sound... but for me personally, i can't rate that - theres no originality, and yr pretty much just rehashing whats alrdy been done.

i guess i just don't understand that mentality at all. something doesn't have to be pioneering in order to be good. not everything original is good.
they are good yes

so which one is it?
edit: and by the way, one could say addison groove is a rip off of chicago juke. chicago juke is a ripoff of booty bass. ad infitum. i think it's called progression and refinement not unoriginality.

don't twist my posts to fit yr argument pls... the tracks are good, i don't rate the transparent mentality (or so i see) behind them. forgive me if i'm coming across like a 'hater' towards guy because i'm not, but see the post about "following trend" at the bottom of p1 and maybe you'll understand where i'm coming from a bit more. if u rate music on the music alone - thats cool (and maybe the best way) - i don't, thats all.
thats a next subject but ripping off and progression aren't the same things, come on now...
hey, maybe i just find the template of 808s, juke-esque vox and r&b samples all in one song worn out now.
last post anyway as i didn't mean to derail the thread - i shouldn't of said anything

These tunes don't sound like Addison Groove or Pearson Sound.
They just don't.
And Addison & Rama don't even sound similar to each other. Just because something uses 808s doesn't automatically make it the same style.

it's a good tune and ive been playing it out, but context does matter sometimes, and you'd have to be a bit blind to not see total's point.

does context need to be audible to be important?

yeah its like im not sayin i dont like his tunes, the tunes are good, but like i thought it was a rama tune when i first heard it before knowing what it was. i just think its a bit of a drastic change in style, i mean i dont follow A1 bassline that much, so he may have been drifting towards this sound for some time, but to me it seems like he did fidget and has moved to this 808 sound, which as it happens is a big sound at the moment, maybe if i listened to his tunes more then id be able to find his style within the 808 sound he is doing, but i dont and cant.

All music is a sharing of ideas. So he probably heard Fidget when he was Partyshank and thought wow thats huge I'll make that, and same goes with the 808/House sound he has moved onto. Its not like he's sold out and gone global by switching to deeper house (there are more profitable genres). so what really has he got to benefit? IE what would be his transparant motive?
Disclaimer - none of this is aggy talk its all blessed musical banter. IMO he doesn't sound anything like like Addison or Pearson??
