Stop trying to copy people down to the frequency of their fuckin percs.
Be your own artist. This is an art.

Vengeance essential club vol 3 or really any sample pack from them has "skrillex snares"
Pretty much its just a snare that punches around 200hz.
If you wanna be clever you can pull snares from an Amen, 909, TC amen, whatever, and layer/compress/eq and you might come up with something close.
Or eq +12db to the 200hz region of a snare.

I made another one by taking and combining jrisreal and my one with some more compression and a tad EQ.

Excuse my newb-ish question, but just this just mean to use a high compression ratio?
Or is he using multiple compression instances in his signal chain?

No offense but - rhythmically... that was a quite bad an attempt at the drumline. After making my own drumline I came to the conclusion that he will put lets say 16 samples into a drum rack, ie: 4 hats, 4 snares, 2 crash, 2 kicks, etc... and layer them. You need not focus on creating a snare - the snare you hear is many samples playing off 1 drum rack at once with the compression done on that drum rack. Skrillex doesn't say "Oh lets make a snare today that has some cymbal and lets make it really complicated so nobody can take my sound) He simply lays out a pattern and then doubles, triples, and quadruples up the hits. With that being said, I focused on creating the underlying pattern and then threw in a few samples that sounded close - mind you I'm not going to sift through hundreds of snares to duplicate his sound. Thats your job.
I uploaded 2 files, a completed drum track .WAV and a .MIDI (145bpm) so you can get the pattern.

At first I thought it meant multiple instances but then I realized the simplest solution is sometimes the easiest, and I now think its just one instance of medium/high compression.

i just realized no one has mentioned ny/parallel compression.
when trying to get punch out of your drums, you can also try having your dry drum signal being routed to a return track with high-ratio compression. this way your dry track is still heard, leaving dynamics unchanged, however you also hear the heavily compressed version which will add punch.

How can I be as nice and understanding as possible...
You act as if I'm asking how to recreate a whole song. I'm asking how to recreate a snare. A SNARE. Not his bass, not the lead from scary monsters, not any of that. A SNARE. I would imagine this would be a pretty harmless question but I guess I'm in the wrong forum. I go to /mu/ on 4chan, I get chewed out for bringing up something related to Dubstep and Skrillex. I come here, and I'm given the response like another "HURR DURR I WANNA MAKE CINEMA OVER AGAIN, HELP ME MAKE EVERY RESPONSE."
You know, your little "do your own thing, be your own artist" woulda worked if you were the first one to post, but you waited until people started helping me and bouncing off ideas. Idc if I'm still new here, but you're the only one hearing your argument my friend. So go try and make some other people too scared to ask a question on an internet forum.
RIGHT SO ANYWAYS...

yeah i wasnt goin crazy all out to make it sound good bro. really all i did was take a generic snare and play it with a crash and a bit of processing compression/eq. didnt do much else...and the rest of the drums and crap is pretty much the same type of effort

yep, i usually use a higher ratio 12-15:1, little bit longer release, and a lower threshold... but the threshold is only because i use a return track instead of grouping it like he does.

I know, excuse me for overreacting a bit. I just don't like being told to be something. Yes, even if that's what I'm striving for, I don't like being told to be it. I shouldn't of used that as an excuse to yell at someone over the internet. And you're right, it's a snare. But the sounds that please me the most are the ones you don't intend on focusing on, like how the snare sounds or what's going on the deep, deep, background of a song.

You need Skrillex assistance huh? Just use your Skrillex beacon and he should be there shortly.

any beat that would be as compressed and overlimited like his would be cohesive to a certain extend... you are overthinking here.
now just find sounds in ur array that sit nicely together, process them individually in terms of microdynamics and eq... and save them that way. itll help u.
after that just stick a compressor and a limiter on ur drumbus and play with them ... add distortion... the same disto.. a little verb... ur almost there... and then notice how lame it is...
its exactly waht i hate about his music, how there is little room for sonic constrasts... as everything is just a big chunk of shitty cold bland pie hand molded together...
his music is brown.
sorry to rant its just an advice i have to give.
