A wise man once told me, "The opinions of you friends, and family on your music don't matter, cause they don't even like Digital Mystikz. So why they fuck are they going to like what you make?"

Keep on your path man.
Exactly, I wouldn't expect a metalhead to be into the ambient, repetitive shit I do, so I don't really give a fuck if they like it or not. And yeah, that's extremely disrespectful of her, kick that loser to the currrrb yo
This might be a bit random but the piano in the tune in your sig sounds exactly the same as the piano in the tune in jrisreal's sig..

anyhow, carry on with the thread :)

I'm 18, and my girl's into indie...

She seems really cool about my stuff though.
She said she liked what she heard on Soundcloud.
I told her she didn't have to say that to keep me happy but she said she meant it.

I guess I'm pretty lucky.

+ she's beautiful and the most awesome girl in the world. :corndance:

Last girlfriend I played something to said: "it kinda sucks"

...at which point I stared at her in silence for a good 3 minutes.

Kinda like this:

Anyway she got a bit creeped out and asked why I was staring at her with cold dead eyes and that's when I chased her down the stairs naked with a chainsaw... and by that I mean broke up with her.

Wait really? If you love the girl surely you can hack the criticism?

Have a relationship is way more important than producing anyway... Imho.

In my defense, it wasn't a one off and it wasn't crit, it was just rude.

Even if I love somebody I'm not going to tolerate things like that, because the truth is, if I leave her, I can go find somebody better and be in love with them instead. Why love a good personality when you can love a great personality instead?

Relationships aren't really that important to me. They're time consuming, costly and ultimately get in the way of what I want in life.

QFT
Exactly my opinion aswell eventho I'm in a 2 year relationship with the best girl i've ever met.
Seems like she slurps up all my time that I could use for production.
I'm not at the point where I want to be and for that I need time to learn but whenever I get a day off I need to spend it with her.

On a side note: Whenever I'm close to finishing a track she'll be the one to hear it first.
I nag about her opinion and it's always a dry "it's good".
Even made a track for her but her interest for it was pretty low.

If I don't get support from the person whom I'm most expecting from, I wonder why I'm still trying tho.

She loves that I enjoy doing what I do, and attempts to come up with ways of saying how good it is.
It's cute but as always the dull "I like it!.." always remains.

I wasn't attacking you there buddy. :) I was just interested. I mean, when I said about taking their crit, I didn't mean let them walk all over you.
I think it's good the way you guys can judge it with a level head.

For me, even if she hated my tunes and told me they were awful I wouldn't love her any less. I'm just lucky in the fact that she seems to be alright with it. :)
But I guess everyone's in a different position.

Producing could never make me feel as alive as she does.

When my girlfriend first heard my music and dubstep in general she thought it would give her a seizure. Whenever I'm making music in the house she doesnt like the contant "bump bump" of the bass and how much time i spend on it. I learned a tip from Rusko and now when I need some time to make music, I give her some money and have her go tanning or get her nails done, enough to cover a good two hours. Ever since I started using his advice, it's been a lot better. Plus after almost two years of her hearing dubstep/drumstep and whatnot she is starting to dig it more.

my lady likes the idea of me making music, but when it comes down to actually writing she's all 'fucksake why are you on your computer again mer mer mer'

but when it comes to my actuall music, she enjoys it, but leading upto the point of making her listen is hard because everytime i show her im just like 'listen to this it's my best piece yet, trust!' and i get 'you say that everytime'

i guess she doesn't understand the word 'progress' :P

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

My misses isn't too into music but I've slowly been getting her into various bits and pieces and she's really intrigued. She fully supports me making my own though, it makes her really proud when I play her my tunes lol. She thinks I'm like amazing and talented...probably cos I don't let her hear what the other cats round here are making XD
