noisegates.. i use em on live instrument tracks.. as that's what their actual purpose in the studio is...
ive been mixing a couple live tracks recently and ive asked for unaffected signals, so that i could get the maximum out of the recording, i like to gate stuff when mixing...
that's about it.. for samples ill just use adsr... or very creative stuff for choppy effects... but its never turned out good (altho i could see how)
