I do the initial project mixdown to around -5db.
I then "Master". Just band compression, and if more room can be taken, regular compression comes in.
And yeah, it is

nice, because what i plan pretty much stands and falls with good drum hits.oprs wrote:haha a couple hours wont kill you, preperation is fine, get your drums set, no beats though haha.

and yup, i got a pretty neat idea indeed. it's risky though, i'm fairly sure most dubstep people won't 'get it' if you can say so. but this isn't about winning (which doesn't mean i'm not gonna try to slaughter you all in this competition
also making a style i actually have no technical clue of is way more likely to yield results that are fresh and recognizable as opposed to just another one of the 1000000000 existing deep house/electro/dubstep/trance/gabba/whatever tunes.
Re: 48 HR CONTEST SIGN UPS.
its never about winning, its about maturing. always.
and i hope you blow us all away, i love new tunes.

Re: 48 HR CONTEST SIGN UPS.
I actually have no ideas at all, I'm just gona wing it, probably be done the composition in like 6-8 hours and then mixdown in another 1-2 hours. I have really no experience in writing full tracks yet, but I'mma try.
Re: 48 HR CONTEST SIGN UPS.
I'll give it a shot. Need to keep my producing skills flexible.

Oy, so wait. The time starts on Thursday, then ends on Saturday? Or starts now and deadline is Thursday? So vague?!?

Re: 48 HR CONTEST SIGN UPS.

if you happen to be a late comer, fuck it get something made and enter it, half way through the deadline ill sort the drop box and get everything ready.

See, there is a problem with using words like 'tomorrow' in this sort of statement. As per my view of the forum, this message was posted Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:35 am, so 'tomorrow' in this instance would be Friday. However, the OP says "clock starts at 5pm bst, which is 12pm est. on Thursday. two days from now".
I'm sure you can appreciate where the confusion is coming from.
Re: 48 HR CONTEST SIGN UPS.
I'd like to participate in this. I may be able to. Still can't figure out when this is starting/stopping?
