The only times reverb goes on mastering is during mastering and even then it should a convolution reverb with about 10-15% wet and cut at around 200hz

I like to add some 'verb on my master, but when I do the kicks sound shit when they are the only thing or one of the only things playing.

Would a workaround be to say, bounce the track without kicks or sub and then add em in after? Is there an easier way?

I don't like bouncy kicks.
why can't you just setup a bus and just have most of your channels running through? simple. just don't bus your kicks to the reverb. :4:

dont add reverb on the master :S

just do it individually to the instruments that might need it.. and on the kick you don't want much noticable reverb you just want it to tie into the hats and the snare nicely so turn the decay down and then just turn the wet up to counter that.. but never add verb on the master lol

Just to make it clear, I do put reverb on all elements individually if needed. But also a very slight on on the master. The only time I notice any bad effects with it is on the kick when its soloed or playing with synths at low levels. I mean, do my tracks sound too reverby?

I still have a long way to go with production, but I didn't think it was too OTT.

i would never put verb on my master... i don't wanna answer the above question lol, knowing me I'd say "errm, well this one does sound a bit muddled, the master reverb is definitely a no-go" and then youd inform me that the track in question had no reverb on the master xD

That being said, as per ur sig tune, it is a little too reverby for my taste. just a little. I would definitely try setting up a few sends on your next track and don't use it on master bus. I mean your ears surround a different brain than mine.... if you like that technique keep doing it. but see if you like a dry master with all the reverb use occurring within the mixdown... u should get much cleaner and even more spatial results.

After the results in this thread I think ill keep the master channel clean and dry from effects. I'll give it a go and see how it works out :)

It's something I can honestly say I thought that everyone did haha

Awww well, when I get home from work ill def have to check out reverb and do a lil research on the matter.

Cheeeeeeeers for all of the advice and smit
