One of my all time fav artists. Grew up listening to this, massive attack, tricky, everything but the girl, leftfeild and morcheeba.

One of my fav by portishead is "it could be sweet'
I even made a remix/boot of it

Portishead get me every time, amazing...

One of their lps (can't remember if it was the self titled one or Dummy) got fucked up real bad in mastering or mixing in the pursuit of loudness and distorts real bad on a few songs.... such a disrespect to the music.

Roads is a special one for me.

Great band for sure.
Beth Gibbons vocals are always amazing.
I remember watching a live dvd maybe 5-6 years back where she smoked the entire way through the show and apologized the entire time for her terrible performance.
Needless to say, it was excellent.
Also her work with Rustin Man was great, Deadly posted up those links.

Third was an awesome albumn, incredibly dark and gloomy.

The arp is speaks of in the first few minutes, the chopper sound.
I`ve always thought it was bloody great.

Forgot about that vid. Was doing one of those today. Had my girl in my lap, trying to figure out a beat exclusively with my left hand.

I must say, while Dummy/Portishead has all the classics and is proper mood music; Third is production porn and sounds so much better live than the other stuff - I promise you! The prefect blend of gritty, organic music with vintage synths to give it bursts of energy and character - truly, truly amazing.

Its the song what just keeps on giving; was the best encore ever!!!

I agree

Third changed how I see portishead.
Not that I saw them as anything bad.
But I wasn`t as blown away by their production until third.
it`s like Radiohead in Rainbows.

What is the camera man dressed as in that video to make his child that quite?
My son would have ripped the cables out of the arp and the proceeded to stage-dive off of the case.

+1. When I ordered Third LP from the record shop the guy behind the counter shot me a dark look, but to me Third is the epitome of capturing vibes without being too in the background or too in your face. Just brilliant production quality and songwriting.

For sure, Third is an incredible album. Did people really think they were going to do another dummy or self-titled? Progression is the truth. I have "The Rip" 12" hanging on my wall:)

I got the Roseland New York dvd not long ago. Words cant describe how moving it was the first time i saw it, Beth Gibbons is surrounded by an orchestra and synths guitars, trumpets all kind of shit and she is in the centre and looks like a fragile little bird, the most delicate person you can imagine, so nervous and shy. Fucking amazing. To the point where after I watched it and crashed, all night I had her voice floating in the background of all my dreams, fucking well worth tracking down. DVD has probably 7-8 extra tracks to the cd plus all other random shit.
