Haha it wasn't actual bass, just vibrations and resonance as mentioned. You should also isolate them from the desk at some point with something like MOPADS. Easy to build yourself though. If you don't monitor loudly it's not much of a big deal, but something tells me you have them pretty cranked up. They are also very useful for putting them at an angle best for your ears.

I usually monitor with the pre amp about half way up, which isn't very loud. It gets real loud when I turn it past half way.

Also this for relevance:

im pretty sure that has nothing to do with bass. thats just air fluctuating in and out of your speaker. you could have mids do that to the bag as well. but a stand up so the bag is at the level of the speaker and try iy

No It does say in the KRK manuel to test thier low end power place the provided crisp packet in front of them...
