Agreed but I wouldn't agree with the age thing. I'm 19 and got into electronic music because of my brother being hugely into jungle whilst I was growing up. It's got nothing to do with age. Dubstep was created to be intelligent. I see plenty of 25+ raving about "brostep". It's just a dumbed down watered down version of the real thing.

Dont think it really matters how you get into dubstep, its more about where you decide to go from there. It shows how important it is for you to explore a sound. i think the dubstep genre as a whole is a great way to measure how much a person is "into" electronic music. How shallow or deep you want to swim is completely up to you.

I suppose I lean more to the brostep kinds of things. That being said, I can't stand hearing "that's ok, but it's just not filthy enough for me". I like older style and newer style dubstep. I heard some benga a few years back but really got into it after hearing "wu-tang enter the dubstep cd". Most of the tracks on it aren't all that great IMO, but that's what got me wanting to produce it. Before that I was (and still am) a hip-hop kid. For me there's nothing better than listening to some J-dilla, 9th wonder, or old mobb deep.

it is an inherently good thing, its bringing bigger numbers, a wider audience, therefore evolving the music, more people are listenin more people are producing... i said nothing about brostep being "better" than anything..
it seems as though most of the oppostitions standpoint really is. "oh, you know about it now, its not cool anymore" or theyll make compromises that suit their own arguement, like being so bold as to call it by another name, to simply save face..

its a dumb fight. if you dont like it shut the fuck up and look the other direction, nothings watered down, nothings simplistic. get the fuckk off your high horse. <-- definantly not directed at ayatolla :) the first post was.

all i know is that i care because its changed the scene. now when people think of dubstep they think of skrillex and doctor p. because of this they automatically say "dubstep is shite its just robot farts its retarded", not knowing what real dubstep is. thats why it annoys me at least

yeah I get that, bigger audience etc it's just that you get an audience that pushes the uninspired, crappy sound, and you'll get more producers making shit... on the other hand the "purists" reaction is to keep pushing a sound that quite frankly is getting kind of old. The guys that have really been pushing the music forward the last couple of years have been the house (and garage and funky) inspired artists, and it can hardly be called "dubstep" anymore.
I don't think you need bigger numbers or a wider audience, no good will come from more mainstream popularity at this point. just look at what happened to UK Garage in the early 2000s.

brostep doesnt produce more crappy artists. people are more complex than a genre
i think if some kid started out listening to brostep, wanting to be just like that. Illegally downloads fruity loops and starts discovering music for the first time, if its in him hes gonna stray from the filth and produce some "music" . if its not then hes not. its the person.

i'm not hating by all means, to each their own, i like harder tunes as well as lighter stuff. idk it just seems funny when you think about the whole filthy aspect of it. but honestly its gotten to the point where u wonder where can this aggy phase go to next?

thats my point, its an evolution of music, drumstep is here, up the ante percussion wise i guess.. i personally love MOOOOOMBAHTONNNNN haha...
where it will go next? in all hopes twords something with more emphasis on the human element. inherently more musical talent. i guess..

-and in all honesty, among me and my friends the fithy thing is just fun and funny, its half the reason we say it.. the music is really about having a good time..

Well if it's in him to make "music" he doesn't need the filth in the first place. If people gravitate towards shitty music it's because they like shitty music and they'll eventually make shitty music. "Dubstep" attracting bigger crowds than house is not necessarily a good thing, as "dubstep" is not "better" or "superior" to house and especially not the lowest-common-denominator filth that attracts 95% of "dubstep" fans.
Also you mention drumstep and moombahton, but "drumstep" is halfstep drum n bass, it's been around for years and I wouldn't say it's "uppin the ante" percussion wise at all. And "Moombahton" is p much unrelated to dubstep...

I just don't see bro contributing positively to the "evolution of music" at this point...
