Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
guy who makes money on recessions and crashes goes on tv spreading fear, trying to induce another crash
everyone falls for it
everyone falls for it
you're not wrong, you're just an asshole
Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
hahaha
i remember getting the piss taken out of me for suggesting that a planned crash was coming that would benefit a few, by some of the people posting in this thread about 2 years ago
it is strange he was allowed to talk, i sort of agree with yoowans post
he was probably allowed to spread fear and panic in people, so that said people are more likely to accept drastic new measures in an attempt to "solve" the crises

Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
also, more important than protecting your assets maybe would be to get out of the cities! or have a plan to get out quickly
and community forming is hugely important too

Granted I'm not doing anything to stop it. Does anyone even know how to begin with that? I would think the first step would be avoiding this stuff talked about in the video, not supporting them or their companies. I wouldn't say I have allowed it though. Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
shit- some of you are going on like this will be some sort of zombie apocalypse!
there have been lots of crashes before, the markets are always boom and bust and some people always make money playing it.
personally i just wouldn't bother saving up too much money- interest rates on savings are shit. its a good time for borrowing- get all the loans/mortgages you can, if it crashes and you can hold onto stuff without it being re-possessed then you'll be in the money once it recovers (just like people have done in past recessions), if you lose the stuff then who cares- bankruptcy is the cool law that says don't worry about it (according to homer simpson anyway) .

move out of cities, grow own veg, equip yourself with the knowledge to survive without the need to depend on the system, such as researching local wild foods, form farming communities with others etc
move away from money, trade and barter for produce and services within your communities
you and i allowed, and our parents before us, the whole system to come into place, being apathetic whilst having a sneaking suspicion it was just a complete no no

Hey Hackman, good to see you posting on here again. I agree with the getting out of the cities thing however, I do think it is wise to have a little stock pile of luxury items and essentials as a back up anyway. People need to learn to become a little more self sufficient too. On a side note, I hear you are living in Bristol now???? I have been meaning to pm badger and pop over to his place sometime and I think you live quite close by. If you are up for a meet up and a smoke/ mix session/ discussion Let me know a time and place and I'll pop along. Will be good to talk about similar issues irl.

not everyone wants to live like that though, (and I doubt there is the space in a place like the UK to provide for everyone like that). all well and good until you need a hospital, or want to make music on a laptop, or go to a club, or travel by anything other than a horse and cart....how do you get electricity, gas, running water/sanitation. it'd be like the middle ages- which were by and large shit with a really low life expectancyhackman wrote:definitely not support them or their companieswormcode wrote:Granted I'm not doing anything to stop it. lol people can do what they want, i know what i'm going to do
and there's lots of books and plans on internet on how to source power small scale from your home, people don't look into these things because they assume they're too stupid to pull it off and need to rely on companies to do it for them, when it actual fact there are lots of options available

Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
Yeah I can agree with that. I've done a lot of those things too. Small carbon footprint, no taxes (besides sales) etc. Money yeah I still use, but I don't know anyone who uses anything else, I guess that's where the communities come in. I do grow a lot of my own food and make sure I research the places/companies I do happen to buy stuff from. I don't think it makes much of a difference on a large scale for just me doing it, but it's just how I've always been.hackman wrote:definitely not support them or their companieswormcode wrote:Granted I'm not doing anything to stop it. This is literally the worst thing you can do.Mr Hyde wrote: personally i just wouldn't bother saving up too much money- interest rates on savings are shit. its a good time for borrowing- get all the loans/mortgages you can, if it crashes and you can hold onto stuff without it being re-possessed then you'll be in the money once it recovers (just like people have done in past recessions), if you lose the stuff then who cares- bankruptcy is the cool law that says don't worry about it (according to homer simpson anyway) .
What makes this recession so much like the depression of the 30s and unlike others is that it's a crisis in a line of credit. Various institutions are still falling in the line of dominos the housing market knocked over, and there is plenty of downward slope for us to fall into. More and more it's impossible to survive without taking on credit, impossible to get a car, an education, house... Interest rates are down, the cost for high valued assets are going up, there's so much incentive to take on loans (i'm speaking from a U.S. standpoint). All this credit is being leveraged en masse, you can think of it as stacking more dominos in a chain of what is thought to be a good investment, and just like with the housing bubble, if that first domino falls, it can take entire industries down with it.
The government CAN enact policies to cushion the fall... but chances are they won't. From what i've read I don't think there's even a governing body granted the powers to fix your problems in the EU, short of germany or someone else pumping their own money into it. Obviously this guy has a stake in a recession, but fear feeds into itself and all this talk about living like a hermit is precisely the kind of panic that's going to exacerbate his gleefully anticipated depression. There's no better manifestation of self-fulfilling prophecies than in economics crises.
There are a few industries that are suspect to this massive and dangerous leveraging, IMO student loans are a perfect example. But I think if we learn from recent events and keep our eyes peeled for clues while making sound moves on monetary policy, we can instill some degree of confidence and cushion this fall just like the last one.
I've only recently read on the european situation, so maybe someone else can enlighten me, but from the sound of it your whole EU agreement is beginning to show its holes.

but wanting to extract yourself from system and "live like a hermit' as you put it, is not a sign of panic, more so a sign of common sense. The people who will panic will be the ones who'll spend their life savings on gold and silver, or start rioting in the streets

Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
But say you get a £10k credit card bill, £20k car loan, £200k mortgage, live it up and have a good time while its all low interest rates and cheap credit and then the whole banking system collapses and you lose your job and can't pay for any of it, its not against the law in the UK to go personally bankrupt- you'll have the stuff taken off you and have trouble getting more loans more a few years.....but other than that its not really that bad because you never really owned that stuff anyway. And if you time it right you'll be buying all that credit at times when its at really low rates, if you can keep hold of stuff until it goes back up and credit is harder to get then- profit!
Some of countries make it illegal to be bankrupt, rather than fighting the system just play it. Its all make believe.

Re: Hearing the truth is almost strange
Btw how is the Dinar scam going in everyone else's countries here? Are people buying into this shit there? It's been going on for decades by now, and I still hear of people investing 5k dollars or pounds etc in Dinars and expecting to get rich when "Iraq becomes powerful and the Dinar soars".
Maybe it should be in its own thread, but it's kind of related.
