I must be a shitty gamer cause this game is SUPER fucking hard, the controls aren't very easy to master that's for sure.

I'm stuck on Ornstein & Smough on my 2nd playthrough. Is there any easy way to beat them without going online?

It gets a lot easier once you get out of Undead Parish and you start learning how to play correctly. Take your time, don't rush into battle, and be careful.

Cheers Vishes, I'll give that a go.

Good luck!
And yes, O&S are a bitch. That was the only bossfight I had to coop. It does really help though if you kill the couple of tower knights in the hall opposite to the boss area and then summon Solaire before you go in. Cos he's quite a good tank.(His summon sign is on the stairs at the opposite side of the hall, right where the silver knight is shooting those giant arrows at you)
He fight also gets alot easier of you kill skinny first and because super sayan fatty is a lot easier to kill than super sayan skinny.
So summon solaire, let him tank fatty, focus on killing skinny, then kill fatty. Shouldnt be too hard this way, but it wont be easy either.
Good luck mate.

I have been stuck in Senns Fortress for about 2 weeks..
I have finally memorized all the traps and stuff; last time I got up to the top - ran to the bonfire and got hit by one of those massive fire bombs the golem throws and got so vexed (losing another 20k souls......) that I just turned it off and went to my mate "wanna borrow darksouls".
Its really not the fighting what I find hard about Darksouls though; its the environment which always gets me killed..You block; get knocked back a bit, roll - lose your footing and boom, fall down a cliff hahah!
Has anyone beat that big eff-off hydra in surrounding all the ice golems and also - that boss at the bottom of the tower where you'd go to kill the first boss? (after the tutorial level) that bastard 1-hits me (at level 37).
I refuse to use the sword you get when you shoot the dragons tail though; I am using a insanely upgraded scimitar and whoring pryro magic like a bawse.
I will beat it somepoint this year though!

Persevere. Once you get to the top of Senn's Fortress, you're pretty much clear. Just time your rush to the bonfire and you're clear. It's totally worth getting through though; once you beat the boos you can go to Anor Londo, which is probably the most beautiful area in any video game ever. You can then kill the guy throwing the balls at you too, which makes the area much safer.
Save the Hydra at the bottom of the forest for much, much later. There's nothing there you need at the moment and you're only about a 5th of the way through the game.

I might've exaggerated a little, but just to give you an idea: you'll have to play long enough to get strong enough to kill 10 Capra Demons (the boss from Lower Undead Burg) in a row. And that's not even close to the end.

The Capra Demon was probably my favourite boss battle; no game has had my heart pumping so much.

The Capra Demon is nothing compared to the Four Kings and Seath the Scaleless.
Protip: If you haven't gotten it already, get the lightning spear dropped by the fake chest in Senn's Fortress. Lightning weapons kill almost everything in the game fast.

True. Four Kings will indeed be quite tough, especially now that Stone Flesh has been nerfed (they were way too easy with stone flesh). But I didn't really think Seath was too hard though, I killed him during my first try.
Getting to him through the Crystal Cave, however, is a real pain in the ass if you don't know how to do it. But this is basically the whole thing about Dark Souls, most of it can be super frustrating, but as soon as you know how to approach these things they actually become rather easy.
And again, if you're really having trouble with certain bosses or areas just look them up on youtube. I know that Gamefront.com has uploaded a complete walkthrough of the entire game on youtube, which is over a 100 videos or something. Those really helped me out at times.
About the Hydra btw, it can be extremely frustrating when you're at a distance and it keeps shooting those water things at you, but you should just zig-zag sprint towards it to dodge the water things, then when you're close enough it'll stop shooting those and attack you with it's heads. Just stand in front of it, hold block, wait for it to slam it's heads into the ground, then when the heads are beside you give them a couple of hits. Rinse and repeat till it's got like 2 of his heads left.
At this point it becomes rather difficult to melee the heads when they're slammed into the ground because most of the time they are too far away from you and you haven't got enough time to run towards them. I just switched to my bow at this point and kept shooting arrows at it's body (don't need to hit the heads) till it died. Cost a few arrows but it was easy as cake.
Edit: Forgot to say that you shouldn't move to close to the hydra though, because there's a gigantic pit in the water and if you fall in you're dead. Shouldn't be such a big problem but you just have to know it's there, and if you look closely enough you can sorta see where it is as well. (Gotta love the environments in Dark Souls eh? )
What knight in the tower are you talking about btw, Legendary? Do you mean Havel? The one with the Tower Shield and massive dildo?
He can be quite tough because he does a lot of damage, but since he is extremely show you should just try to keep a distance between you and him and try to get to his back as much as possible and just keep doing backstabs. If you can do this it won't be too hard.

reading these last few posts has made me even more terrified of this game but weirdly way more interested in playing it

Only just completed dark souls last week, was so happy when i beat the last boss.. he's actually pretty easy, you just have to wait for a certain sword attack and counter it repeatedly.
Oh yeah, and i alternated between an upgraded lightning spear, which is great for keeping distance and quickly attacking. i also used an upgraded gravelord sword, which does a great deal of damage and is one of the quickest large weapons in the game.

I was watching a guy do a play through on twitch.tv; he got this guy in 3 attempts - he had worse gear than I have and was a much lower level (19 or something; just beat the capra) but I just can't seem to do it... I think its that thing of I know if I get hit once I am screwed so I get panicky haha!
And Ambinate; its seriously the best game ive played since Alundra on the PS1 and I got that game for my 9th birthday, no game has been better in 13 years haha.
On another subject..
Where is that guy who was at the front of Senns before the gates opened? He just disappeared, will I see him later?
the NPCs in the game are one of the most brilliant things about it; they are all mysterious - you know they all have a purpose but its baffling to find out what, adds so much creep factor.

I'll try not to spoil anything, but yes, you will come across him (and his daughter) several times in different areas from now on. There's a seperate storyline attached to him that you can follow and get a nice item at the end or something. Can't quite remember what it was.
If you're interested in doing this you should really look it up on the Dark Souls wiki cos you have to talk to him in these seperate areas in a specific order. Cos everytime you speak to him he moves to a diff location so it can be a bit confusing.
I fucked it up during my first playthtough because I had no idea, but I followed the wiki during my second and it's worth trying mate.
And about the knight, the advise I gave you earlier is really the best I can do for you. Just try to get to his back as much as possible and do backstabs.
Really don't be afraid of dying btw, because it's going to happen a LOT of times anyway. And yes, you may lose a bunch of souls but trust me, when you get a bit further into the game you'll get these back really easy. Somewhat at the end of the game there were times that I was running around with over 50k souls on me. So really, don't worry about dying and losing souls. That's just how the game works and it's going to happen loads and loads of times.
Of course it's frustrating when you die, but it is such a satisfying feeling when you've finally learned how an area works, where the traps are, what the attacks are of a certain enemy or boss are and finally get past it. Just keep trying and trying, eventually you'll get better at it, master the techniques, and get it done.
And those moments are exactly what make Dark Souls so fantastic.

I'm about halfway though demon's souls (just beat the flame lurker and the dragon god) and sweet jesus. Dark souls is ridiculous from the get go.

It's actually totally unnecessary to beat him. All it gives you is a shortcut to the hydra. On a somewhat similar note, if Senn's is still giving you trouble you can put it off until you beat the Moonlit Butterfly and Great Lord Sif in the forest. The area right past the entrance to thee deep part of the forest behind the 20L soul door is also the best farming spot in the game. Farming souls there has gotten me to around level 100 on my 2nd playthrough.

Ive done the Butterfly I didn't even know about Sif; I have opened the 20k soul door ages ago but the enemies there are effing hard..
I think the plan is to get lightning spear (didn't kill mimic, just ran haha) and then attempt getting to the bonfire again.

You actually don't have to do anything to farm there. Just lure the enemies and let them fall off the cliff to claim your souls
Again, Youtube is your friend:
And yes, you should definitely try to get the Lightning Spear from the mimic in Sen's Fortress. It really helps alot in the Sen's Fortress bossfight.
Speaking of mimics, there's a real easy way to spot whether a chest is a real treasure chest or a mimic. Just walk up to the chest and look at it's right side, there should be a small chain there. Now if the chain curls up to the back of the chest (away from you) it's a normal treasure chest, however, if the chains curls up to the front (towards you) it's a mimic. This always works

I bloody did it!! Got to the bonfire at the top and even fucked up the iron giant so much I made him fall off the side of the edge with a 3/4ths of his life left (kept going beind him and hitting his ankles right at the edge so when he fell, he fell off, genius tactic haha!) .. Granted it took me like 8 tries though!
Anor is so gorgeous; i'm a bit confused on where to go though - going to have to watch the gamefront walkthrough.
