I fiddled with a thread a I read a while back and got some pretty good results.

"you can either program them as minor chords
or you can create them using a synth with 3 oscillators
the basic principle is to have a root note (usually the the bottom note) set to 0 (no tuning)
2nd oscillator you could tune to Eb (+3)
3rd to +7
this would make a minor chord basically - then whatever you play would be a minor chord - for the sounds you mentioned you can try combinations of oscillators, maybe saws or chuck a square in - filter it down a bit with low pass - bit of resonance and boom.
only thing is you are instantly limiting yourself tonally and you will notice that a lot of those tracks that use that minor stack chord basically sound the same.
it's a good thing to add to a tune sparsely in my opinion

another option which also achieves interesting stabs

"open up massive and create a new sound. Turn of all the oscs apart from the first one and set it to a saw wave . Set the filter routing on this osc to the top (filter 1).
Make filter one a lowpass 4.
drag env 4 to the sc bit of the filter cutoff.
set up env 4 along these lines: short attack, long decay, mid sustain and short release.
Set the cutoff to around the 2 oclock position and set the en4 4 to go from around 2 to 4.
Play a D minor (D,F,A).
In the massive efx bit set up efx no.2 to reverb and turn up the dry wet y. Play about with the settings of the env 4 and the osc or try adding in another osc an octave below the osc 1 but detune it by say 40 cents OR try different wavetables for a different kind of sound. Experiment with resonance on the fitler.
removed the reverb in massive and then in ableton try adding a vowel filter after massive for an A, E or oo sound to the synth. Add a reverb in ableton instead and try adding in diffArent delays before the reverb.
It does sound pretty close, still not quite right though!
Any other tips to get the sound?
I should also add that if i sent it to a return and there was some phasing things going on but this actually made it a much nicer sound. More liquid.

how about the classic house piano chords... does anyone know the chords/ progression and what synth would be best for the sounds, or best sample bank... i know i hear these a lot.
