never buy a sample CD
Since you already have experience with Massive, you should buy it

FabFilter has 25% off bundles until 31 December, check them out. Personally I don't like the NI sound. There are loads of (cheaper) "Pro" alternatives around, synths and effects.

get a sherman filterbank and decent interface with at least 4 outs and 2 in. or some analogue synths.

this is coming from someone who is pretty well covered on the software side of thing.

Get Komplete 8, that should cover you for a lot of the acoustic samples you'll need. Then use the darkmatter sampleswap or whatever it's called to get a shit ton of dnb and whatnot samples

TBH I would drop a grand on software. Just invest it. why the fuck would you need all those synths and shit. Just learn how to learn one and you can work magic.
very true, massive is $200 and fm8 is $200 on its own, so why not have the whole kit?

Wrote an article on this subject.

I'd say get a nice interface and make sure all your hardware requirements are taken care of first. Maybe a portable recorder for samples and sound design? If there's no hardware you want, then Komplete might be a good idea. It does cover pretty much all the bases. Like I say in that article, the learning curve is going to be long for the whole package. But you won't really have any excuses anymore, you'll have more than enough software to get you where you want to go. It's just a matter of learning and applying your knowledge.
