is that necessary? any audio interface with 2 outputs or more can be changed in the daw. i routinely switch between monitors and headphones this way.

Nothing is necessary.

I have two sets of Mackie HUI DAW-control surfaces for sale

i would also recommend the big Knob to anyone, be3cause it's really handy and well made

I must also recommend the UAD and EastWest

If you get either of those, you're doing a good thing

But if you want a Mackie HUI, please get in touch. They are mint and really in need of a home.

Wub and Sharmaji: Sorry, i don't see the point to this suggestion. Perhaps you could explain how they can make life easier?

In Cubase, to switch outputs, i press f4 to bring up vst connections, then choose from a list of saved presets. Thats all.

With the Mackie Big Knob - i'd need to spend £217, add an extra power supply and also add another piece of hardware to my signal chain, slightly degrading the signal(anything in the signal path degrades it as it adds noise).

So excuse the ignorance, but i really don't see the point to this, unless you don't already have an audio interface with multiple outputs. Is there something i'm missing?

Hi virtual mark I see where you are coming from. Is it done with one button in cubase to change outputs if so it would be more cost effective to do that way if not then I can see where the advantage of a controller would come in especially as when I have multiple monitors I like to flick back and forth quite quick while checking my mix against reference material.

its a luxury... and yeah more stuff in the chain is not good for the signal but its just like a patch-point.. basically part of the leads, more or less. Its just really handy for studios with cue mixes, monitor mixes, or alternate sets of monitors.. it allows you to do things easily and quickly
when set up correctly, it won't add any remarkable noise.

its something to buy if you're making money on music and can afford to toss 200 into making your studio more user friendly
