Yeah I've tried them too, they're shit. Krk makes decent monitors but not headphones unless you want that 12k+ crisp and nothing else...

The Beyer for me didn't have enough low freq either... Which is why I went with Sennheiser since they usually have some good bass response... I've been happy with the HD 280's but they aren't perfect either.

When I was researching headphones I saw Grado had some for around $150 but wasn't sure about them.
Ultrasone also sounds good, but I haven't tested them out either.

hd280s good bass response? sorry but the hd280s are known for lacking lows. thats the reason i bought the ultrasones pro 900s. they're expensive but the lows are solid, mids are crisp and the highs are extremely detailed. these are the type of headphones where you can tell the difference between a 256 and 320 song. also because of the design, the sound stage is huge and they also help prevent hearing damage with the offset drivers not blasting directly in your ears. also they are very comfortable. idk about you but my hd280s hurt my ears after 1 hour and were uncomfortable to use. when i took them off after a long session it was like i was entering a different world, you know that feeling? the ultrasones don't do that, but i do believe they leak a tad more sound, but thats not a problem for me.

Hey guys it's np...

I was saying the Beyers I tried out were not great on the low frequencies, but then again I was only trying out things with a budget of under $100...
The real ones that I wanted to advise against were the KRK's since they're all high freq no low.

If I had the money I'd probably get ultrasone's or grado's or something....

My experience with the KRK's is that there is no high end beyond 12k.

I bought a pair of seinheiser hd-25 mrk2's and never looked back, I think they've even come down in price now by about £20/30.
They have a flat response on them and the build quality is amazing. IF they do break, you can replace any part of them yourself, just order the damaged item on ebay and fix it.
I'd definitely recommend them for producing, if you want to test your track out on something that aren't your speakers.

Yeah I agree the bass response on the 990 is good aswell, it's no biiig boomy in yo face bass, but thats what you're looking for for in monitoring cans. I haven't used any other headphones in this price range so can't really compare them to other high end ones, but imo you can't go wrong with 770/990's.

EDIT:

Yeah true, but a decent interface is enough drive them. I'm using a focusrite saffire LE btw.
