iv participated in all of these and only was able to enter twice because i was literally creating all my patches and sounds during the competition time. i think its slightly unfair if anyone decided to just sort a folder with every sound theyre going to use before the time starts because theyre just flipping around the samples and patches they had already have loaded ready to be fired lol. not saying i disagree but it totally gives the person that decides to do that a big headstart

but yeah if too many people are already doing that and im the only 1 designing patches while the clock is ticking then i dont mind preparing a little beforehand this time

well this is the exact reason i allow it, seeing as its only 48 hours, often its hard to get the noises you want in that time and end up missing the deadline, i'd rather have tunes made with premade patches than no tunes at all!
i dont mind if everyone disagrees with me, i can change the rules for next time..

fair enough and like i said i didnt totally disagree, im going to prepare a little for this time because it is true that its too hard designing every single bass and drums as well + finishing a whole song in 48 hours since i rarely use samples & such. i missed plenty of the deadlines for this when i did that

How can one be sure that its all been made in 48 hours? I think some kind of sample pack needs to be realised and a few elements must be used to prove it has been done.

We already have the sample pack contest though.
And this is just a bit of fun. If people want to cheat, then they're only really cheating themselves - the point of this is to improve workflow, not cheat just to win (assuming everyone has that mindset, of course)

Usually takes me 3-7 days to be happy with a track so this'll be a bit of a challenge

Same with me that's why i wanna start getting into doing these, i need to improve my workflow drastically. Sometimes takes me a month to finish a tune completely and be happy with it

, this will be a challenge lol.

I already have a template setup for these competitions. It's already got a simple sub bass, some drum samples, a few different synth patches I have setup beforehand just as something to start with and some samples here and there I think are neat that I might be able to use. I also have mixer channels already setup for sends and what not. However I never start actually making anything until it starts. The template just gives me a chance to avoid all the tedious things that take more time than I'd like when starting a new project.

Swear to god I'm gonna do one of these this year. Always happens when I am busy lol but I think I may be good at them, most of my tunes are done pretty quickly.

Super experimental.

normally takes between 4 hours and a month to be completely happy with a track.
This should be interesting...

Yeah, I just made a template in FL that has an FPC full of drum samples, and then a sub bass, and I have the mixer tracks gainstaged and EQ'd to how they should be. People should do this because it saves a lot of time.

Remember when I made that rap beat (from scratch) in 47 minutes Chad?

Haha close! nah I just snagged some drums from my creatively named "hip hop drums" folder went to work with omnisphere and made up a riff on the guitar played it on my keyboard and made a song around that. I will say it wasn't the best song I've ever made but I think Chad would testify that it wasn't half bad!
