I love the Mac vs PC arguments.

They both suck.

I still don`t get the debate though
my pc rocks
no issues
no crashing
just solid performance all the time

I mentioned you because we clearly are polar opposites when choosing systems.
Everyone has a preference and a reason, no one preference is better than another.

To be fair, the PC is definitely the most bestest. Because it has more internets, faster gigamegs and supports double quad hard drivers. Macs can't do any of that and are usually a bit grubby. Plus they need to be warmed up for about half an hour before they're at full power.

I prefer mac!

Logic and Abelton ftw! ( even though abelton is cross-platform)

you can't just view pure spec vs spec. sure you get more bang for your buck with a pc, but its not always the deciding factor. personally every single pc i have ever owned has either gotten the blue screen of death or just slowed right down to a crawl. i was also fairly smart about what i did on it, but who the fuck knows. also as far as laptops go, theres no beating MacBooks for build quality. and the trackpads are the absolute tits...you cannot get the quality of control from a pc laptop like you can on a macbook with the nice trackpad and multi touch. and then theres the os that is just simple as fuck and runs like a dream without a hiccup. personally a mac with less specs can feel snappier than a pc with greater specs...to me anyway. and of coarse no virus' or any of that bullshit on a mac which IS a decision maker for me.

i mean don't get me wrong i still like pcs, especially for gaming cuz macs suck for gaming, but for everything else i just prefer mac. I'm sick of all these die hard pc fans sticking up for windows as if it were their 4 inch cock and they were very insecure about it... "NO DUDE MY COCK IS WAY BIGGER THAN YOURS ITS 9 INCHES". when the fact is most of these people have never even owned macs, so their opinion is less meaningful, where in fact most mac users have used pcs for a while at one point in their life.

i like to be in control over how my machine operates... macs are for the technologically declined/unaware imo

mac users kind of remind me of girls driving around with no oil in their car... "waaaait, what is a motor?? make it workkk"

sorry if that's a bit harsh, this isn't directed to anyone here, just my general opinion on people who choose mac's bc they're soooooo easy!

this is more so a discussion on operating systems anyways

Really down to personal preference. I was pretty sad when apple bought out emagic and logic went mac only. I prefer pc because I can build a monster machine for much cheaper. There's also certain programs for pc that I couldn't live without (ie vaz modular & soundforge).

Another game changer is the fact that Microsoft has finally developed a solid and stable OS like Windows 7. Makes a world of difference compared to before when mac was known for being more stable than pc for this reason alone. Any program that crashes on my pc is a result of the program itself and never win 7 crapping out. This is the biggest thing that finally evens the playing field between mac and pc imho.

Macs are way over priced (yes I do use one for Logic). Unless you want something specific for a mac get a PC instead (imo).

I should clarify, I have both.

Im a mac user, and its amazing, however I can't recommend it to everyone. Its a VERY expensive computer.

Theres much to be said for the ability to customize, build, service, and upgrade your Windows PC without having to send it in to applecare for a flat rate of fucking way too much money plus tax

i admit windows has a bit more to tweak under the hood, but to assume you can't control how your mac operates is just wrong. if you know how to use terminal on a mac you can control just about anything you would ever need to, actually. so don't make false assumptions. but what do you really do to 'control' your pc that you can't do on a mac? i like the fact that on the outside mac is simple because i don't need to tweak it much, i just need to use it for applications like logic, reason, web browsing, etc. if it runs those and everything else i do smoothly efficiently as far as workflow and such thats all i need. what else do you need in a computer?..call me crazy but i don't get people like you.

and thats a pretty horrible analogy and a false stereotype about mac users. theres plenty of mac users that are highly advanced and chose mac because they're nice to work with and/or they use a mac specific piece of software.

in my opinion heres the pros and cons of each, and I'm not going to jerk macs off just because i prefer it.

clunky (in my experience windows is bloated and not smooth to work with, also i experienced slow downs and hiccups quite often)

laptops/consumer desktops have bad build quality (obv if you build your own desktop pc, thats not a problem)

I've used a PC all my life and just recently got a mac (for free). I wouldn't have paid for it knowing what I know now. It's great, but not worth the price tag. Being able to use logic, and the sleek simple feel of the laptop are about the only big benefits I'd say. This could also just be because every PC I've had I've built and maintained so I wasn't getting blue screens and viruses and shit.

With a mac you're paying for the convenience of being able to open it out of the box, have 0 computer knowledge, and have it run with little hiccup. God forbid anything does happen you can call a "mac genius" or something to fix your problems.

alright, but i said most.

i do plan to build a pc in the future though, but I'm going to hopefully make it into a hackintosh and have windows/osx on it. that way i can use windows for gaming and a few things if i need to and osx for everything else.

but i think ill always have a macbook for a laptop, really can't beat them things. but i def can't see myself shelling over the cash for a desktop mac.

I will have to go with macs,i started out with cubase and a pc then bought a g5 and logic.I have since had to macbook pros.This is over the span of the last 10 years ,in that time my mrs has gone through 3 pc towers and 3 laptops all hardware issues.I had my last macbook pro for nearly 2 years and sold it for £800 on gumtree,i had over 10 offers and people willing to pay more,my g5 i sold for £600 after nearly having that for 3 years and that was without selling the monitor with it so i know macs hold their value very very well and are very solid built,yeah you probably get bogies where hardware goes with macs i'm not saying you don't but in my experience they are a quality built computer.The new macbooks with logic are capable of handling very extensive projects,yeah logic crashes with certain 3rd party apps and it is a known programme with plenty of bugs but i'm pretty sure you will find bugs in most daws on most platforms so macs get my vote all day long.
Oh and in the 10 years of using macs i have never had to wipe and reload the os like my mrs has to do on many peoples pc's at work and family/friends at home,also never suffered any type of virus whatsoever.
