Personally I like the older version with the samples, a lot better. This one is still a great tune, and definitely some beautiful music, but I'm just feeling the instrumental one a little more. I feel like Ed Thomas' lyrics are a little too wordy for me. Obviously will still cop.

these vocals are a little too cheesy for my taste...

I liked the demo better... this version is still sweet but the demo version was on another level.

Yeah I'm thinking the same as you guys. Might be worth us all saying how we feel in Soundcloud comments. Still a great tune but it's lost something...

wicked to see feedback on this..good or bad
we would be silly not to take note of constructive criticism so big ups!
we do try bring something different to the table each time and in doing that some thing work well and other don't
we are working through 30 tracks at the moment and its important that we have an extra few thousand ears to see where we are going wrong lol!
big ups for listening!

Since you're here, my specific feedback would be two things: one, compared to the old version the trumpet sample fades out differently (or maybe it's the way it echoes, not sure), and the new version doesn't sound as natural to me. The other is that I think the snappy snare you had in the old version fits in with the whole vibe better than the clap in the new version. Oh and I kind of miss the vocal sample, any chance of an instrumental release with it put back in? I like the new vocals but I think it'd be a real shame if the instrumental didn't get a release too.
I know that sounds picky but like I said earlier in the thread this is already one of my favourite dubstep tunes ever based off the old demo alone, so I feel kind of invested in it's future

I must agree with the above comments really. With the vocals it's kind of lost something. I can remember sitting there listening to the original after a session, winding down and it would give me goosebumps. Feel the vocals have taken that away really. Theres been a few times where i've just picked that original tune to roll up that late night spliff and smoke it too and soak in the atmosphere.
Not saying its a bad tune at all but I seriously fell in love with the original. It could do no wrong

Interesting!
The early version was a guide track.
The vocal was out of tune and it had a synthetic trumpet.
We recorded everything with live instrument so obviously these won't be as tight, but it hasn't been mixed yet.
See what happens I guess. There will be a instrumental no doubt
Bless

Awesome, love your work. Can't believe that's a synth trumpet in the early version, I'd have horns all over my stuff if I could get them sounding that good...

I don't expect much from asking this, but it's worth a shot. Is there any disclosable info about the forthcoming Author album this year? I can't wait for it and I know it's going to be just as amazing as the first one. I know it must be pressure making a second album when so many people from this scene pretty much unanimously loved the first one so much. So yeah, any details?

proper inspiring to see you taking constructive criticism on board so well. i personally think the new instrumental sounds amazing - i think it's definitely better than the original, once you get over the fact it's slightly different to the version we've grown to love.
i think the vocal definitely works - it's just that i prefer more instrumental tracks to tracks with full vocals, as i guess is the case with a lot of people on here. it's just a different sort of tune with the vocal. so as long instrumental and vocal are both released there's no problem. such a great track

Found a Youtube clip, since the original Soundcloud seems to be down...
