Big tune. I still feel like redlight and early clipz stuff is tongue and cheek though with his noises and melodies.

Defo doesn't take himself too seriously. I like that.

(I didn't like it as Clipz though, cos there was nothing decent to back up the annoying noises most of the time!)

vinyl only i heard
i really don't get why they'd make these tunes vinyl only.

fair enough mp3s go around the internet for free like crazy, but these tunes aren't exactly like collectible items (don't get me wrong, they're still good), they're bangers directed at the dancefloor. As most DJs play in digital formats these days, Redlight himself included, it seems like a strange move.

is it so that those who choose not to buy the music have to settle for playing out poor quality vinyl rips?
doesn't it force DJs who don't buy vinyl and play out solely using serato/CDJs to try to track down said shit quality vinyl rips rather than buying a HQ mp3 as they usually would?

btw i buy both vinyl and mp3s, tend to buy vinyl of older grime/garage stuff, and some new releases, and then mp3s of new releases that i want but am less inclined to add to vinyl collection, particularly uk funky ones that don't see a vinyl drop.

^dude there's nothing to get, they want to release vinyl only so be it. if people want to justify not supporting a label by illegally downloading their music and picking up a cheque at the end of the show then fuck em.

'particularly uk funky ones that don't see a vinyl drop.' - can you imagine how that becomes frustrating for someone who plays only vinyl..

obviously they can do what they want, my comment was just wondering what the motivation behind a vinyl-only release for these tunes is.

i'm saying that it seems weird to me because many more people will be disappointed with the fact that this is a vinyl-only release than would have been disappointed if this was a digital-only release. the vast majority of djs, particularly with this style of music, play in digital formats and they don't buy much, if any, vinyl. so it seems a bit like a step backwards to make this vinyl only, denying many digital djs the ability to fit these tunes into their sets without either going into the longness of buying the record and ripping it to a digital format to play it out, which probably wouldn't even sound very good, or switching to vinyl in the middle of a set, also hassle.

i can also see though that dropping vinyl-only takes care of people who are most dedicated to supporting labels, artists and music in general. it's just strange when almost all of these same artists or label-owners seem to be playing out only with digital.

that's the thing, i can imagine it's hard to get something consistently really high quality from a rip so it does put you, someone supporting the label + artist, at a bit of a disadvantage.
but then i also understand from a label's perspective a vinyl only release is a kinda deserved fuck you to people out there who nick every 320 they play.

yea its just a pain for all the people who actually fork out good money to buy tunes, and then cant play them out because most clubs dont offer a decent set of deckles.
