Re: production philosophy
try to separate sound design from arrangement/composition. this way it's: get inspired > write tune, rather than: get inspired > start writing > spend hours tweaking one synth or drum hit > lose inspiration, focus, & enthusiasm > go do something else. electronic production has the wonderful feature of being able to edit/tweak/polish everything later. stay hydrated & avoid direct laptop to lap contact if not using a desk. exercise and healthy food are big, as mentioned, but a bag of haribo or any sugary treat on hand does wonders for my workflow (avoid anything that makes your fingers dirty). these are all less philosophical than work habit related. I'll try to think of a way to express the philosophical part without sounding like a cliché or a hack.
