I may be "too young" to post on this thread, but I think my opinion might spark up a new flame in your heads. I am 14 (not that it matter). I really don't know what the hell I am going to be when I am older. Right now I say a engineer, maybe next year I will want to be Prime Minister. I consider everything productive at this point. No matter what I do, I find a way to apply it later. For example, I might be playing soccer. I will learn a new trick to get passed someone, then I might use it in drama/dance class. I would probably figure out how I did it, what parts of the body are moving, how to improve it etc. No matter what it is, I make everything a learning experience. I try to bring everything into my producing and I try to take everything from my producing. No matter what I do the "music" is there. The producing is going on where ever I am. But at the same time it is not a obsession. Maybe when I am older it will change, but for now I will continue to make music in my head during every activity I participate in. To be proactive is to take control under a situation. If anything being proactive makes us better producers and being producers makes us more proactive.

Wise words from a young'un.

It's not about how young you were when you start (though years of practice are a prerequisite); it's about your love for the craft and level of commitment to it.

If it's what you do, it's what you do. I try and write everyday. Lately I've been lucky enough to write at work, and that's something I've been working toward ever since finishing school.

But, I'll probably still forego going out tonight to write some more or just to practice. It's what I love to do. Just do what you want really, and if you really want to write, write. I suppose it all comes down to your own personal priorities.
