Nah the compressors, effects, eqing question was for myself, what do I put on my guitar audio recording? I'm clueless of mixing for rock music.
A brutal gruesome eye stabbing base guitar is created by layering, just like a nice reese. Get some nice thick strings and drop your tuning. Apply tons and tons and tons and tons and more tons of drive, scoop out the mids, cut around 150~200hz and around 5khz. Heavy compression and a noise gate. Play the base guitar line, pan this one to the left, about 63%. Record yourself again playing the same line with the same amp settings, pan this one the right about 63%. Now go to your amp, mess around with your distortion so you get more treble (high end) and a little bit more of distortion, almost (keyword here is ALMOST) muddy. Play the whole line again, pan 100% to the left, play the whole line again, pan 100% to the right. Create a room reverb send, only a small amount of reverb, then compress to put everything in the same room. Move to the bass, you want a nice spiky tone with lots of high end. Play the part recording the in line signal, to this signal apply a heavy compression and EQ out the low end mud. Open a bit of space for the kick drum click. Copy that part, cut a bit of the low end and apply an amp with a mic simulator (guitar rig). Apply a heavy fuzz or overdrive to this track, balance it with the clean signal, send both to the guitar's room.
The key is to layer, always layer.

also quit listening to bro / scene / pussy metal. Get some Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus, Meshuggah, Black Dahlia Murder or Mastodon records for heavy stuff, not teenager girls screaming into mics. :cornlol: :cornlol:
lmao are you serious? pussy metal? I don't listen to viking shit metal or annoying ass screams talking about killing babies which pretty much most of the bands you listed talk about, with shitty breakdowns and no melodic content whatsoever, just Drop B tuning and 5 chords. who the fuck cares if I listen to chiodos if you're talking about "scene" it's something this kid probably knows and can relate to(I literally listen to everything, someone is always going to bitch of what's "good" and what "isn't" it's annoying as fuck). I'm not going to name a bunch of random bands that he doesn't know. And that shit ain't "bro" at all. It ain't a contest of who listens to the more "heavier shit" or whatever. You obviously like different metal than I do so you're going to back up yourself and bitch at me on what is "metal", get the fuck over yourself.

That said, Dying Fetus, Black Dahlia Murder, Mastodon are pretty good and I listen to them, Cattle Decapitation sucks and Meshuggah is aight.

Job For A Cowboy is meh, White Chapel Sucks. Hope you don't like those bands.

This is the good shit. :Q:

Despised Icon is okay, Cattle Decapitation gives gravity blasts and inhaling a whole new meaning, Cryomancer is terribad :cornlol: . And don't stress too much, I was joking. If I actually thought that you were a lesser being due to musical taste I wouldn't bother writting a wall of text to answer your question, would I? :cornlol:
