Shows how stupid the average British person is, unfortunately... and how calculating politicians are
Isn't it the individual petrol station franchise owners who set the price to sell at?

Meh, I'm on a quarter of a tank, should last me another day or so.

As the weather is nice I may even use my bike :h:

"Genius idea Dave! And all that panic buying & cheeky forecourts charging a bit extra will bump up the economy ahead of the end of Q1 so we might avoid dropping back into recession!"
"Now that's thinking on your feet George!"
"Maybe we can try and turn the public against those pesky unions too. They're a thorn in our side."
"Associate them with Ed too. The public will hate Labour. Two for one. Har Har."

"huh-huh-huh, we're brilliant"
"Shut up, Nick"

True story.

Do you think the oil companies aren't going to be asking for a cut even so?

Usually doesn't work that way. But, it wouldn't be surprising if the oil companies separately raised the supply price for the next couple weeks.

This article: http://www.economist.com/blogs/blighty/ ... ver-petrol

Funniest thing i note from it is that if there is going to be a strike they say there has to be a 7 day warning.

Read something else today which was saying how saudi arabia's spare capacity for oil, should be the thing which helps keeps oil prices stable but the fact theyre extracting a hell of alot of oil inefficiently will ultimately fuck things up in the long run :D
