something in depth on sends & busses and & routing and all that
i've always kind of brushed that stuff to the side until recently and it'd be nice to see a good tut on it

Praya wrote:more than just reverb i would really like to see how you go about creating depth and space in a mix, with all that that entails, i.e volume, panning, eq, reveb and delay..etc.
It would be great to see a tune have those effects added to it one by one, with a quick explanation of why you are adding each one.

The 3-D front to back depth is one of the things i struggle with.

One on transition techniques would be cool too. :)
Right will get started now. I'm thinking a Reverb / Delay tutorial that will go a bit more into sends and using aux buses. Problem is once you enter that area it starts to get a bit DAW specific but will try to keep it as broad as possible :D

I think thats a great idea, get into where to cut reverbs (lows) how you can use syncopated delay times, saving cpu and creating coherence using sends

also, maybe get into how where reverb/compression are placed in the fx chain can change the sound and its dynamics/space

Here's the link, hopefully managed to tick of most of the boxes that people wanted (sorry if I didn't!) Spent a bit longer on this one so hopefully it's a bit more thorough. I've checked through for spelling mistakes and whatnot already but if anybody does spot anything please drop me a PM so I can get it corrected.

+1 for reverbs and/or compression.

Reverb is something I use heavily in every production, but unlike my synths, I always use reverb presets. I wouldn't know where to start to get my reverbs sounding good with the rest of the track.

Super experimental.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

I would LOVE a good tutorial thoroughly explaining compression, how to use it and exactly WHAT IT DOES.
Please!!! I have no clue how to use compression at all! Just make it very simplified like "Big froggy jumps on lilly pad but the lilly pad was too small so the big froggy fell in the water."

(I'm actually serious, please teach about compression.)
Keep progressing, one day you'll be great. :)

I like your tuts, they're great, and I understand that video tutorials are tougher, but they're by far the better tutorial method

so this is one question that I have - do the EQs in reverb just affect the EQ of the reverb, or do they affect the EQ of the entire sound?

Well if used as a send then naturally they can only affect the EQ of just the reverb. (as the original sound is also coming from somewhere else)

If used as an insert it may vary from reverb to reverb but generally the ones I've come across only effect the actual wet signal of it not the entire sound.

For both production and mastering it's all ITB atm. Running Logic Pro with a UAD 2 Duo and a few other nice plugs.

I dooooo however have a custom built GSSL style bus compressor being built for me atm though. (current eta of 3 weeks till completion) so very much looking forward to that. With Software I can get most of the way there for things like EQ but there's still nothing ITB for compression that Ive really gotten into if I'm being honest.

:dunce:

(To make this relevant to the thread I'm using the real verb pro inside my had atm, my have 'verb I've heard so far that's software :W: )
