Yeah Glitch is er classic but you just know when someone is using it and someone called me up on it when I used it heavily in a track. For that reason I try to avoid using it although the temptation is strong. Very good for real time live mashing though.
Glitch's screwing the whole mashup thing. People insert an amen, turn 2 knobs, record the output and think they're doing some crazy shit.
I guess people are the problem tho...
Good on you for not using it.
It is how you use it though. If you're putting the whole tune through it, or your drum loops then it's going to sound a bit obvious, but you can put snippets of sounds and feed them out to delays, or you can record the file, stick it in Recycle and then resequence it or any number of other alternatives. Plus it is essentially quite a useful step sequencer with far more options than most so it can be tweaked to do things that are beyond the norm.
The main melody in my tune Talking Drum (on my virb) is a recycled amen and I doubt you'd know that Glitch was involved in that if I hadn't mentioned.
Hmm....

relik wrote:also, pretty much everything you could do in glitch you could write yourself and tweak with standard fxs. it's kind of like a lazyman's tool, but it really depends on how you use it. you can use it to be lazy or you can use it to make something mindblowing. really just another tool in the arsenal. as for any gear/software...it's all in how you use it and the only thing that should matter is the final outcome. some old heads could say the same thing when PCs came into the electronic production game
yeh when i furst saw/used that plug i thought it was mental! then realised it was actually a lot easier to control things by automating em manually...

polyiblit is my weapon of choice. a great little synth/fx/bass mangle system with 3 osc/4 lfo/2 filters and a matrix to get those wobbles really out of sync
edit:
oh, and it's free:

Downloaded Crystal and it has a lot of LFO options and options in general but apart from straight basses I'm struggling to get much wobble out of it. Do you have any dubstep patches you could upload? Cheers.
NB: This definitely has to be one of the most complex synths I've ever downloaded ... its just doing my head in.
I think of it more as an atmospheres / pads synth than bass.
I found the best way to learn it was to start with a pure sine patch and then start learning to apply each feature individually to see what it does to the sound. Eg start with only one basic oscillator, then try using one sample based oscillator on its own with no filters, then get a simple sound and start playing with the delays in the mixer, bring in the mod options after that... After a while you get a lot closer to being able to 'think of a noise and then program it' rather than 'twiddle some stuff and see what it sounds like.'

Tweakbench, eSoulBS, blockfish (and the rest, dominion esp), Kjaerhus, Glitch, (and I agree, bit too easy!!), and one I won't mention. I love it too much.
ScanSynthGL (check KVR) is only in alpha, but FUCK ME it sounds amazing, more analogue than my analogue synths...really!!! Phat, beautiful, warm....
the dude really needs to finish it. I gave it to my mate, electrohead he is, and he's raping the shit out of it. oh, and Nebula free. That is unbelievable..

I put this in the big thread of wobble, possibly stupidly as the first preset on subduer is a dubsteppy wobble, and the last thing i want is the dubs section cluttered with weak wobble tunes, but subduer is a nice synth. The other majken vsts are nice too, Chimera is such a good idea.
This thread is so good, can't really see myself needing to buy any VSTs for quite a while.

Oh I forgot to say about MG TriggerGate, doesn't really take much explaining. Actually one of my fave freebies.
Tapestop another of my faves.

Stick this thread maybe?
p.s. Slim, I agree with you about this thread being good - Sherbert, ScanSynthGL is a fatty.

Can anyone recommend an LFP plug? I see Frohmage is only free if you get the standalone version.
