Went to Malaysia, Thailand + Cambodia last end of 2010 and begining of last year. Will try get some pictures up tomorrow when i have some time to.

Have a friend that did a similar trip to you then went to OZ then met me in India. She loooovved Cambodia and spent like two months there.

Was only in Cambodia for about a month but loved it. The city of Angkor lives up to the hype

What parts are you planning to go to? I did Goa and down
Came in via mumbai then went south and worked our way back up.
Goa was our "three day holiday" of just sitting about eating nice food and drinking at the end as its not really what I would call "India" its like a hotter/cheaper version of tenerife or something.

Stayed in a hotel on the fringes of a national park, the guys father had built a 20ft observation tower on the roof and you could go up there and watch wildlife. Hell even from our rooms we saw familys of boars, birds, mongoose, deer and all sort

Hiked up some massive hills in the teaplantations and got warned not to go further by some local guys as there was a wild elephant trumping about (someone had been killed by one the week before!) as they come down to the village and eat peoples cabbages at night

Personally I prefer travelling alone (travelling as in weeks/months long backpacking trips rather than just holidays, which I do prefer to go with others), you can be totally selfish and go exactly where you want and do what you want. Also, if you hostel it, you meet so many people anyway so it's hardly like you're alone for long.

I went backpacking around Europe for 3 months in 2007, my friend dropped out last minute due to money issues, but I just fucked it off and went on my own anyway. I was really apprehensive at first, but it turned out to be awesome. I met so many awesome people that I am still good friends with now, and I now know if I ever found myself in say, Montreal or Buenos Aires or Seoul I'd have a place to stay.

Sometimes I'd travel on to other places with people I met, (I went to San Sebastian then along the South of France with a girl I met in Barcelona), but then you can easily split off if you want to do anything else. You also get to be a lot more spontaneous if you're travelling alone. Alot of the time I'd just go into the train station, look at the departures board, have a look at what sounds fun, then jump on a train.

Seriously I can't recommend travelling alone enough.

On the list for the next 18months;

- Peru, specifically the full Inca trail
- Climbing Toubkal (highest point of the Atlas mountains, easy summit due to the fact you can trek up it)
- Pripyat (town evacuated following Chernobyl)

Also looking to walk on all 7 continents at some point in my life, so need to start thinking about how I'm going to fulfil the Antartica portion of that.

got no fixed plan as of yet, still in the planning stages. opened a savings account last month to start collecting funds for it

that city within a ruined city deffo looks worth a stop tho.

Ah nice! Yeah me, my gf and my mate we met out there all agreed Hampi was the best of the whole trip. Hired out motorbikes and cruised around for a day just going where ever. Climed up 1000 steps to the temple of hanuman (monkey god) and all sorts.

I should shutup really as once I get going I will bang on about it enlessly.

Yeah, I'd probably be up for a bit of that, but I supidly went and bought a house. So can't really spend a huge amount of time travelling anywhere. I was very tempted to sell off the house and go off for a bit when I got made jobless though.

Top places I want to go to at the moment are:
- Mt Kinabalu/Niah Caves/Borneo - gonna try to arrange for a trek with some mates next year since it's probably out of the question this year
- Galapagos Islands - was supposed to volunteer there for 3 weeks at the end of last year, but looming redundancies kinda killed that plan as it was quite expensive
- Peru - not necessarily Machu Pichu and the Inca trail as it's slightly overdone now I think, I've been told there are some alternatives which might be better
- Japan - not just for the culture and food but also natural trails and stuff

found this really awesome website for mailing yourself supplies while hiking the appalachian trail... would work for most areas in the US with PO's along trails! keeps the packs light and is far better than truck stop food, that's for sure.

Few notes! Top one is inside part of the temple shown in pic 4.
That statue is apparently something like 3000 years old, it is as big as a house and is a Reprsentaion of Budda (like the cross for jesus)
One with the red cloths, thats the guys house with the national park. Everything you see behind the cloth is the national park!

You can pay something like £20 each to go do a night trek OR stay there and sit out drinking tea and the guy will point out animals with his torch
One night he ran over to our room, banged on the door and called us out.
We thought we were being noisy but he just wanted to show us the heard of deer out on the fields grazing in the night!
Also he has a massive cage full of finches and other small birds that he says attract wild birds as they feel "safe" and a pond full of mosquito eating frogs and fish that keep the places free of them!

Actually loved that place

One with my feet, bottom left is the road we walked up from. Took us like 4 hours but it was worth it!
