Used to love a bit of Korn. They have a shit load of good tunes.

Shame about that horrendous 'dubstep' album...

Korn haven't been good since the album with Twisted Transistor, but I wasn't even too big on that one either. Lot of their stuff is hit and miss with me but still love tunes like Blind, Falling away from me etc

I'd like to know if Distance actually likes any modern metal... I highly doubt it

this pretty much, and that goes for so much of modern metal music; the lyrics and/or singing style are just so bad, but the instrumentals are well good

Stupid thing is they could have made it without ever mentioning dubstep or a genre crossover and it wouldn't have been so bad. The most painful thing about it is just that so many define anything 140 with a big snare as dubstep now. It's just another Korn album with some crazy synths and production, which is fair enough if they wanted to do that for any reason other than jumping on a bandwagon.

Exactly. It's obviously named "Tim & Barry©", you can see that in the bottom left corner. DUH.

Seriously though, here's a better explanation from another thread:

it's cyrus. (i organised the photo shoot and did the labels on the photo :) )

just wondering, how/why did you organize it? was it just like "hey everyone come down we're gonna take some pics" and they did? that's pretty awesome btw :Q:
There was a style mag that wanted to do a round up of different music genres, friends of mine were doing loads of the different features but they asked me to do the dubstep one.

I'd always been a huge fan of A Great Day in Harlem and thought it would be fun to re-create that shot, but in the place we all felt connected to at the time, 3rd Base. Mala sorted it with the owner, I rang around all the headz and it all came together quite quickly. Then the style mag never used the shot, Tim & Barry stopped returning my calls for a few years, before they let the shot be published. I'm glad it eventually was.

first korn album is alright. 2nd one is better (minus the "intense" crying parts at the end). the rest is shit. deftones were always better and way ahead of other nu metal bands.

I used to like a bit of Korn, they were pretty inventive when they first broke through, they had some really weird guitar sounds and were one of the first heavy bands to use hip-hop style beats etc. I lost interest when they released 'Issues', as I think they were trying a bit too hard to sound 'spooky' and I hate gothic-type shit. Althought the bass tone on that album is badass.

Hed Planet Earth, Deftones, and Incubus all had superior material at the time though, in my opinion. Only Deftones is still good / relevant now
