Don't go " more minor " with your scales. Make your progressions how you'd like, and don't push the " bass in the red" EVER. Sounds like it could use some impacts/risers which should be highpassed , as your mix sounds to be lacking a backing of high frequency. Look into downloading some stereo imaging tools or even using panning and delay to create wider sound for your basses ( not sub bass, it should also be dead center) and cymbals. Also google some guides on frequency cutting and a reference to where certain instruments' frequency peak should be, but never go mathematical! use them only as a reference and use your ears for everything else!
