Yeh, I have been hooked to that for a while now. I find it so awesome for getting those trap music styled trills all while staying in on the sequencer panel. Honestly though I bounce all synth/bass parts at 70-140-210 then rephrase the stems.

This also helps you jump from style to style, want a dnb break rise right before that huge drop? change the bars back to 16 prior to the drop.

Hope this helps you make your choice!

you end up with 12 beats per bar effectively running at 70 or 140bpm depending on how you look at it right? You know if you just turn on tripplet notes at 70 or 140bpm you get the same thing, 12 or 24 hits per bar depending on if you go for 1/8t or 1/16t.

Do people actually produce at 70bpm? Or is it just your bpm analyzer reading it wrong?

Everytime I try making a beat at 70bpm it sounds way too slow. I think 140bpm half time may
"sound" like 70bpm to most analyzers, but I'm not sure if this is the actual tempo of a track.

Anyone know for sure?

Most hip hop tracks are around 80-100bpm. Never really heard one at 70bpm.
I'm under the impression it's a false read at 70bpm. Correct me if I'm wrong though

You guys never heard of compound time? You've just described an awkward way of making the metre 6/8 (not some half 3/4 shit). Did you know you can change the metre (and have it still be 140 or 70 tempo)? Of course you can just use triplets in 4/4.

man its all about 280 bpm quarter time beats much higher resolution for beat placement so you can get that shuffled feel n higher lfo rates which enables you to make those skrillex lead sounds in fm8

also it renders faster thats nice for resampling

love it.

ON topic: for me either i either use 130 or 140, though I've used 80 and 100 before. Below a hundo and it starts getting to slow for me

i make hip hop, so 70's through 100's are all great for me
any further up and it's getting toward house 2step and techno, i haven't spent much time in the 130-area, i like doing dubstep at 145, also done a couple halfstep trap style tings at around 148-150 (basically 75bpm hip hop/trap)

This triple metre idea seems cool to me definitely need to fuck with that

I always start 140, mainly because FL's sequencer works in 16ths by default, and having those quick drum elements can be very useful. Plus, everything just moves faster visually, which puts me in the right mindset for dubstep production.

you end up with 12 beats per bar effectively running at 70 or 140bpm depending on how you look at it right? You know if you just turn on tripplet notes at 70 or 140bpm you get the same thing, 12 or 24 hits per bar depending on if you go for 1/8t or 1/16t.
In the essence of preserving workflow, 210 bpm saves you from having to switch the grid back and forth, and allows you to lay down the triplets from the sequencer . This can really serve useful when you are one a creative roll and want to swag your beat. Plus in my DAW (FL), the higher the tempo, the more effective the swing function seems to work.

Cheers

It'll just be a lot slower and you'll do 1 and 1.2 instead of 1 and 1.3 so instead of halftime drums..
