Now you just being ridiculous.
Can you back that up?
I can back what im saying up.
If you can use VSTs then your not limited to a set number of tools.
The Synths in Reason dont even come close to some of the VSTs you can get.
Reason has this sound to it that dont like(all tho I do like reason reverb)
Reason is small and dose not fill the screen.
All the strings and piano sounds are cheep and cheesey.
This is your critique of why reason isn't as good as other DAWs? The fact that people are making music with reason that sounds exactly like the same stuff that is being made with ableton and massive pretty much proves that the synths in reason are on par with the VSTis that are out there.
You can maximize the sequencer window in reason to fit the whole screen. You however can not make the rack full screen. Just like any other DAW none of the synths are full screen. They all open in a preset window size. A lot of DAWs don't use the full screen anyway. Instead what they do is setup a mixer, browser window and a playlist that each use a portion of your screen.
The strings and pianos sound cheap and cheesey for those who don't know how to use the program. For those who know what they are doing they make them sound pretty damn good from what I've heard. Just because you can't use the program doesn't mean it's not any good.

You don't have to make dubstep. You obviously don't find it creatively satisfying, which makes sense since even when dubstep is good, it sounds like everything else.
Just to jump into the Reason argument, you could atleast try using another DAW that allows VSTs, like Reaper (which is shareware), as this my actually be a part of your frustration. You should be able to run Reason through it as a plugin. You would get frustrated doing pen-and-paper math when there are calculators available, even if you get do the same results.

I've heard that reason isn't as good but I have absolutely no personal experience so I'm not going to weight in on the matter. What I do have experience with is FL studio and Ableton. I greatly prefer ableton because of the workflow and audio clip manipulating capabilites. Everything just goes so much faster when I'm working in Ableton... Whenever I'm in FL studio for a collab I just want to shoot myself in the face twice and go back. HOWEVER... there are people who make way better music than I do and it's in reason or FL...

Honestly man the first track you posted isn't very good. Haven't you watched any tutorials on how to fatten up sounds? It just sounds like a balloon deflating when the "drop" comes in. I'm cringing even calling it a drop. I'm not telling you to quit making music but take a break and get your head together. Sounds like you need it.
Edit: Thank God that first soundcloud link isn't yours... I thought it was. Why would you ever try to copy that song in any way. There are so many things wrong I don't know where to start. There's a reason it says don't listen in the title.

Being limited to not using VSTs isn't a negative. Frankly more people with unlimited VSTs use the same tools (massive, camelphat, ohmicide, etc), follow the same tutorials, and make the same music than any group of reason users i've heard. So I fail to see how being limited (I don't consider thor/maelstrom limiting lol) to 3 VSTs is somehow going to hinder you.
Also, the synths in reason don't come close to some VSTS? Seriously? Please I beg you to please give me some proof that reason's synths are somehow inferior. Just because you don't know how to program anything outside of massive and doesn't mean the synths are inferior lol. I'd argue you have more control and ability with reasons synths because of the routing capabilities. I can't route massive back into itself 3 times to have 6 filters and 9 oscillators, but I can with Thor. I own reason and logic and they both have their positives and negatives, so you use them together to get the best of both worlds.

Try not to compare yourself too much with accomplished dubstep artists and just keep doing your thing, because you just realize how much your tunes are lacking T_T

Maybe your cracked copy of reason 4 or 5 doesn't fill the screen or that shit but reason 6 and 6.5 is full screen 64 bit and has there own version of vst's called racked extensions that preserve the stability that reason is know for..

Try splitting the synth into three bands. EQ and compress them, monoise the lowest, distort the middle, reverb on the top. Send them back together, EQ and compress, possibly limit.
That's something you could leave for the mixdown (split and effect all or most sounds), unless you really want to during sound design. You can also resample.

Start by reading the manuals for reason and maelstrom (if there is one) or just start by learning a simpler synth.
Watch tutorials on youtube.
Read the threads here on the forum, especially the stickies.
And if you're not enjoying the time you spend producing dubstep, just give a different genre a try.

I came from the "Reason." Daw as well and I'm so glad I moved on!
I felt as if I was in a cult or some shit, trapped inside this little half screen with premade VST's.. not being able to add 3rd party softwares was awful.
Love my Ableton <3

Sitting in a bubble of ignorance isn't going to help you progress. Always compare yourself to accomplished artists if thats the level you want to produce at.

Keep at it bro. As some one stated earlier, funtcase was producing dnb for 6 years before he did dubstep. Not to knock daws (ableton user myself)but kill the noise uses reason and does an amazing job at it. He mostly uses malstrom.
I believe he posted some bass patches on his official site. Learn what he did by breaking them down

Lol You need more practice, pointing this out for you. It doesn't matter that some one famous uses something. What matters is you understanding and getting used to what you use. Try spending more time learning and don't stress yourself man. Practice makes perfect. Thor is good too btw. I highly recommend you to practice more and get into better understanding what everything does and how it works.

imo nothing could be said on here to help you as much as putting the work in and practicing, in fact we could probably give you tonnes of great advice that would fly right over your head six months in. The best thing for you is gonna be quit asking questions and go find answers. Dont post on the board....read it...you already have read it?....read it deeper. Go get a synthesis book from guitar center, mastering book, mixing book every damn book you can afford (usually better written and more indepth than any forum post). six months in imo is too early to get caught up on specifics, practice, learn more jargon, im not saying you havent, i dont know but i know where i was six months in and i know it took a long time to get to a point where my own skills were high enough to even put any advice into practice. IMHO. ohh and reason rules.
