Oh and just a side note on the whole stability with Rack Extensions, if one of them crashes, only that effect crashes , not the whole program

Just like to point out that flstudio has far greater routing capability than reason, though it is not w those little cables.

Also the sound engine most definitely was not a myth. I didn't believe my self until I heard for my self. Not saying that you can't get a good sound out of reason, but def agree it is harder than other daws. Maybe it will get easier w rack extensions?

Just doesn't apply anymore.

Reason is also one of the most expensive daws w the most limitations, and the actually inferior sound engine.
Nah man. Reason is a great daw, seriously doubt it sounds worse than other daws too. They put
a shitload of work into the sound processing and overall development. Personally, I see more limitations
in other daws than in Reason. And as I said in a different thread once, it's quite intuitive.
You route your shit instead of just somehow 'loading it up' or w/e.
Maybe that's just a case of workflow, but I don't get what I'm doing in Ableton half the time.
(I'll have to look up how routing works in FL, as I never used it)

I agree the stability isn't a reason to buy it. Never had stability issues with other daws.. Vst's can be
a little dodgy though.

Read the Reason user forums and you will see a different reality.

my friends were using reason to play live until i showed them ableton. isn't that a shame/hilarious. Also my friend programed his MPD32 in puredata for logic, also it just lines up in ableton. derp.

Reason is my primary tool and has been for the majority of my production life. Love it. :4:

demo a lot of software then use what you are most comfortable with. I remember when I started I was switching around with software a lot but I just eventually settled on Reason because it was what I was most comfortable with. most DAWs can pretty much do the same thing anyway so you're not going to be at any real disadvantage by picking one over the other.

I personally recommend it because it comes with everything you need right out of the box. the manual is brilliantly written. there is a huge resource of extra tutorials (both video and written) on the official propellerheads site, as well as their official youtube page. it's a great system to learn on IMO.

I'd say get reason6! The sound in reason6 far surpasses fl studio, and even reason 5! They redid everything in that program! I love it

It didn't really surpass so much as it caught up a bit.

you should stick to the DAW you've been producing on currently and just upgrade, at the end of the day every DAW is equally good... it's just up to whether you're comfortable with it's layout/workflow or not, and if you are happy with your current one then stick to it, no point in jumping to another and wasting time learning a whole new DAW... doesn't help that Reason is very different from all other DAW's when it comes to it's layout and workflow

You definitely don't need puredata to program an mpd for any daw. Great idea though.
