This, the root refix been kicking around a while too.

IMO neither are as good as the original but both are still solid tunes

Wow I really had no idea that he remixed Root.

It seems like Compa get's a lot of shit around here, rightfully so. I remember reading someone saying that he used to just come on the forums and spam promote himself like crazy.

I was kind of psyched about his Boka release when it came out, but very quickly lost all interest in his stuff.

Yeah, these aren't espcially new. When I first heard of him I remember giving this and his version of Root a listen.

I definitely respect the guy and like his stance on many things. But I personally don't find his productions that inspiring. 'Solid' would most likely be the word I would use to describe them.

I like him, but I ain't gonna go too mad about him.

Not 100% sure where some of the animosity towards him came from though. :? I guess it's part of the mild backlash to the *cringe* 'dungeon' sound that has crept upon some sections recently.

Definitely this. Unless you have already established your own sound and base you shouldn't try attempting to redo a classic. It just leads you towards a bad comparison, or makes people feel you're trying to get on the back of someone else's success.

Fair play to Compa though. The guy is passionate about the sound.

why rightfully so? he doesn't do that these days, all he's post lately have been quite normal and havent been self promoting. fair enough you don't like the tune, no need to slag him off.

I honestly don't get all the hate he gets from people. If he wants to remix a classic then let him do it, don't like it? Don't listen. Mala plays the AWD refix so he obviously likes it. And with the self promotion, if you don't do it who will? Had him come play at Archetype and he's a nice guy, sat and had a beer with us, chatting with people that had come to see him play. Not a bad word to say about the guy

for me, considering how old anti war dub/root ect are, i think the originals should be left alone. there was a time to remix them, i don't think 6/7 years on that these remixes would ever do the originals justice to revive them now. but hey, i don't mind the remixes personally.

Same could be said about you. That whole post was ridiculous.

You think he deserves shit on here because of a rumour you read? And cause he remixed 2 songs in his first year of producing?

Think before you type.

I like both refixes. Mala has played the AWD refix for fucks sake. Some people need to get off their high horse about this shit. It's not like he's going to release the tunes.

The root remix is fucking sick! been playing that for ages now.

The guy is obviously doing something right, he's got nearly 2 pages of people moaning. It's not like the majority of dubstep these days is even any good. Compa is a massive breath of fresh air in a some what stale scene.

I heartily disagree with this on both points.
