Re: Mixing snare with rest of track

Hey guys thanks a lot for all your help! I've now got 5 different projects saved. I know it may seem a bit ott but its the best way for me to learn. Each project has used a different technique with one of them containing a mixture of all techniques mentioned by you guys. A couple of the drums were clipping the channel faders but not the master.
I have read the money shot thread but I let the drums clip slightly as I watched a video from point plank that said its ok as they have extra headroom in daws but I guess this is bad practice so have sorted it but the track sounds the same tbh.
The project that sounds the best is the one where I've used a little ducking about 3db fast release on the synths and a little EQ cut on the synths around the frequency of the snare (I understand compression etc as I've played guitar for years just not actually produced so although I know what the tools do I need to learn when to use them and how to set them up in a software environment)
Tbh everyone's suggestions have helped so I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat. I still can't figure the side chain EQ so I guess this is an external plugin? It certainly sounds like it would work tho.
Can anyone suggest now after all that listening yesterday how I get around the fact that I now hate my track! My synths seem to have degraded in sound quality but I think it's just me cos I've heard it so much :/
