i feellike most people default right to doom. yeah hes good, but i dont think hes the BEST out there at all.

i have such a wide range of names for this one....goes anywhere from like lame ass "mtv" rap as i call it...jay z still wins.

more underground poetic mcs....sage francis wins.

kool g rap holds a special place in my heart...

big l represented for a while.

so many names. i love doom, dont get me wrong...i just wanna hear opinions for personal preference of who you think was/is the greatest of all time.

You're not alone. Sounded like a geography teacher trying to explain rock formations "in a rap style". Still "Sound of the Police".... :D

Sorry, just get the idea that he came across as a bit patronizing, found his lyrics and flow a bit lumpen, and generally came across to me as the Ben Elton of hip hop.

I suppose a lot of this might come from the fact that I liked PE a hell of a lot more and thought Chuck D had more firepower in his lyrics and delivery (and the backing was way better). No diss to anyone elses' tastes, like what you want :D
Hmm....

DOOM is really versatile tho, try and check out his collaborations with daedelus, dabrye etc and keep a lookout for the upcoming colab with ghostface.
if it ever comes out...

they are probably my 2 favourite mc's..recently i'm putting Trim and Durrty Goodz up there, they are the only 2 mc's i've heard recently that I've rated from any genre.

Grime emcees, no offence, but don;t even come close to the lyrical skill of any Hip Hop artist i rate...which is kinda shame but then its different things.

Verb T i would like to mention, but not at the best ever, just recently.

Nas anyone? Illmatic still sounds fresh a decade on, certainly raised the bar, although he has fell off since, as do most mc's tho.

As for recently, Jehst in the return of the drifter era, no one touches him, lyrically, his flow. Incredible.

MF DOOM Also derserves a mention, certainly is unique with his voice, flow and his rhyme scheme.

Nas, fell off after 2 great albums.

AZ kept his skills there.

Jehst really let himself down with his Album and even more with everything after. Shame.

Cappo eats Jehst for a quick snack. And Scorz Say Zee eats everyone when he was on.

Aesop Rock sounds like an autist doing an impression of a robot.

This question is impossible to answer, unless you answer Prince Naseem Hamed.
