Yeah, read it, re-read it, re-read it again... i still can't make Noisia basses. They don't give a lot away in that q&a but i learned a few things.
They didnt give much away? :o they didnt go into specific bass sounds they've made, but damn they gave away a lot of useful info! Re-read, man! :W:
Honestly i've read it a few times - its not just me, i haven't heard anyone recreate a noisia bass yet. There was a long thread on DOA a few months back discussing how they do it, it died out. If you can make a noisia reese then spill the beans! 8)

I think it might be easier to climb mount everest tbh - it would certainly be a lot quicker. I've spent countless late nights in front of my computer making awful noises, bouncing, resampling, playing with different routings, effects chains, pitch bends etc. I'm getting better slowly but still a long way from a pro sound. A painfully long way - its a good job that i love making sounds else i'd have given up ages ago.
They aren't doing anything secret, there's just 3 of them and each has their strengths so when they all work on something, it gets that much better. They actually learned on DOA over the years, and put their own spin on things. I have heard people replicate Noisia sounds over the years, and even surpass them. I think Billain has far surpassed them in sound design, but I don't like that style of dnb any more. IMO the 2004-2006 era was the best of that stuff.

How anyone uses bitcrushers to make cyber basslines is beyond me :/

I just wish I could figure out how they make the effed sounds in this one.

Or is it just my speakers? :P

If I want to listen to batshit crazy neuro tunes, it'll either be Billain or (more often) anything on NeoSignal.

All the Noisia fanboys going apeshit about this video are just idiots. "ZOMG DEY SAYZ HOW 2 MAEK DIPLODICUS BASE??!!??" has been over my Twitter feed since this got announced.

I'd love to see a bit more about how they use bitcrushers in mastering. the amount of power in their mixdowns is incredible. Noisia will always be the top for me, however i'd prefer if they brought the same style of tracks like the tide/end game / block control at 140bpm instead of lighter bits like tommys theme.

looking forward to checking the vid either way. not really fussed if they give away little or a lot.

That was deffinitly the start of the end, i still think theyre doing well to stay in the game with the drastic changes that have happned in the scene over the last couple of years.

To be honest im not too interested in their sound design as its mostly just reeses with plenty automation and resampling which we all know, im more interested in their mixdowns and how they approach songs when writing

I wish theyd go back to their older style when block control came out

Block Control and the surrounding tunes were definitely great, and they have come a long way mixdown wise, but their older Drifter stuff is what I always loved. Nothing like a good soulful roller.

I wasnt talking just about their Q&A, look a bit harder all the info is there on DOA on how to go about 'The Noisia Bass'. Its all there in different threads basically.

yea noisia used to post on doa quite a bit
one of the funniest things is they originally asked what a reese was
it also helps if you know their individual names not just looking for the noisia group username
there's also posts from mil0 who collabed with them back when etc
but yeah loads of info not just in their q&a

I myself have read all that I could on DOA about reeses and honestly I think the secret is in compression/multiband compression and limiting. After all the modulation/automation, more times than not the mid range power has gone away and/or the top end crispness has also been diluted.I think that some of the best info about Reese processing is to keep spectrum analyzer up, using ears, EQ, compression and limiting to build the sound through each stage of processing. As far as the video, I have a feeling it's going to be kinda light on details...Judging by their QandA, and anything on YouTube that is ;) ...either way, we all know we're all going to watch it.
