Perkalerk, I wasn't being serious and no disrespect taken. I think it's quite charming that that's how we're perceived! Mind you, I know the other perceptions you have of us which aren't so charming (teeth for example)

I spent a year in university in England, but I never remember eating a single crumpet. In my dorm, I was taught the traditional English tea & spliff time, which I thought was vastly superior the tea & crumpet concept anyway...

oh yes, the teeth stereotype! that one is funny to me. although i know a lot of people from overseas there and seriously they all have weird teeth. not missing, just fucked up. not to say americans have perfect teeth.

im not to down with tea time, or any american ritual as much as i'm down with the siesta. I dont know what they call it in the middle east (besides just "lunch") but i love the concept.

You close your shop, take a long long 4 hour lunch break with friends and family. relax, smoke, drink turkish coffee or tea and eat sweets. take a nap, then open your shop again at like 4 PM. then you just stay open till like 10 pm instead of 6.

I had a kuwaiti friend who lived down the street from me in kuwait city. sometimes i'd go over to his house for lunch. His mom and the maid would cook elaborate lunch meals that were just amazing, and we'd just hang out afterwords (having a maid to clean up the dishes helps too

)

good times, for an even greater country. i love the middle east

the middle east is crazy. im down with the long lunches though. to me, its the only time im actually starving for food and able to eat without running around. and its probably the best meal out of the day(i know breakfast is cracked up to be the best, but lunch is like early enough you dont end up eating all late, but early enough you dont need breakfast)...its great.

how about we take a full day for lunch and close everything all day. no one do shit all day. laziest fuckin country in the world will be my country someday.

heh i hear ya! when i finally settle down it'll be somewhere where people dont do shit for an extended period of time each day.

that is SUCH the way to live life. nice and simple, and with an emphasis on the values of the individual.
