Yeah, even tapes and recorders, not needed. But even so they aren't very expensive, I've got several tape decks and reels from the 60s laying around, people practically give them away lol (not Studers obv).
Also, I have used my share of modular synths... they are cool from a nerd point of view but I find them almost useless besides for simple things (waveforms, odd fx). Not all of them though. More modern versions are better, like the AS Telemark which I love. But as for the real old stuff, besides the geek factor I much prefer the new hardware+software.

Yeah that early electronic stuff is mind blowing when you think of the work that was required. Like if I was Stockhausen writing Studie I would have killed myself.
