Ahh mate of mine (4linehaiku on here...along time ago) had the record digging jackpot. In wantage record fair (not exactly a goldmine, just middle aged mens record collection type stuff) a mate of mine found a box of mostly white labels just marked "garage". He had a dig through and found DMZ002 for £3...eugh, so, so big.

I had to stop buying records just for samples once I had accumulated about 10,000 records. Now I only buy records that I am actually going to listen to. I have whittled my collection down to about 5000 records, but it is still a lot to try and move.

I grew up digging and it is one of my favourite activities though these days I just go digging through my own collection.

not much crate digging opportunities round here.. it's mostly obscure eighties finnish schlagers or classical.. when u find a real gem (like i saw rolling stones' sticky fingers with the original real zipper cover) it's gonna cost the same as in a store

can almost beat that

some guy off a dnb forum i used to post on, messaged me asking if i wanted to take his old 'garage/grime' vinyl off him

asked him what was in there, some goth trad, some MRK1 stuff, some Skream, some DMZ007... for free.

i couldn't do it though, he's got a kid, at the time DMZ007 was goin for over a tonne on discogs, i didn't send him an answer, just the link to the discogs page...

all he wanted off me was for me to do him a mix with the tunes n i could have had them for nothing but i was too nice a person in the end

he ended up selling it for 70quid

In newcastle i've only ever found a handful of decent soul and funk lp's in charity shops over the past 10 years. Best find I had was in Oxfam Durham, came out with around 600 soundtrck and library lp's.

I picked up a mint copy of this 12" pressing of Dennis Brown's Slave Driver in my local charity shop for about £3

I also bought an original Apollo pressing of Selected Ambient Works for £20 in the same shop.
