Sure fl is fine. But how do you know it is the right daw for you without trying others? i learnt the basics on fl but moved to logic a couple years later. id say my stuff has improved quite a bit since. Also i was commenting on the software and stuff that comes with fl. Make sure to test out some different software and drum sample packs.

True dat. The workflow of FL made me really lazy, switched to logic and now I'm overly meticulous - but it's different strokes for different folks

It'll take a long time, but it's all fun. If you don't feel like producing, just read up on some technical topic or music theory to learn something new, then fuck around a lot in your DAW without actually wanting to create a song. And then sometime just sit down, and create a tune to see where you're at.

My advice: switch DAW. Cubase if windows, Logic if apple. Torrented versions should do for now. Buying a few computer music magazines should help too.
Biggest bunch of wank ever seriously.
The drum samples may not be up to par but seriously as a whole FL is right up there with every other daw.

All you need is a little production theory and the right vsts under your belt and you can make stuff sound very professional in FL if something doesnt sound prof, means your sound design wasn't up to par. It's good to experiment with other DAWs but they all do the same thing. Just some do certain things better. Combining DAWs is really what you want an eventually straight hardware. Personally my plan is to learn ableton after im done mastering fl and mix both together, then use a midi and one or two hardware sounds for that realistic touch. Eventually a decent mic for more realistic samples. That together is what really makes an amazing sounding song imo

Re edited, and imo it is because certain Daws do certain things better. So for a sound in particular or a cut, that would be better than FL in ways, or for a quick full idea with loops and such and the right fade ins etc., FL

Some DAWs have qualities built in that others do not. Which doesnt make them better but more efficent in that area.

Eh well no one said go buy tons just mix two.. Haha..ha. There is a reason for it though. And the reason is so that you can really reform a spot in your song to exactly how you want it giving it a more whole feel

that comes with knowing your daw, for instance...i can't use fm8, but i can do everything that it can. I can't warp audio like in ableton...but i can cut up audio and basically do the same thing, all in one DAW......

While that's true my main point is how well can you warp it? How well can you do it?

I do agree though, with the vsts starting to come out, it shouldnt't make as big of a difference

I just woke up and your arguing with meh!!! I'm going back to sleep :6:

Or just going to wait until my brain is working properly so that I can gather all my thoughts accordingly

ahaha, all i was saing is that, you dont know what is best for you before you try everything. if someone has been producing for 2-3 years on fl without making anything 'good', then its fair to say, there is a possibility, that fl is not the right daw for him. just chill, and let the kid try some other daw's out without feeling like hes doing something wrong :u:

Nice vid. Don't agree on everything though.
He says his best tracks came together in a few hours and I just know that's not going
to work for everyone. I don't know his music, but it has to be sample based.

He raises good points though. Got me even more convinced I hate to get into groovebox style
producing :)

ASDR - know how to use it and what it means, ALL SYNTHS HAVE IT.

Pick up an instrument, piano or guitar maybe, or you could try playing a sitar. :o

stop giving misleading information, every daw has exactly the same capacities. production gaps between daws ended a decade ago. The only differencial between them is work flow and workflow is subjective, you can only tell op to try demo versions and watch tutorials. Just because glitchhopforum shoves ableton down people's throat, it doesn't mean I can't do the same shit in my studio one 2, for example. Same thing apply for most of the popular digital synthesizers.

inb4 Reason lacks vst support. It has rack extensions and there's a big chance that your favourite productions were produced and mixed entirely in Reason.

Again, stop giving misleading information and lowering the quality of the production forum.
