His 'dub' album apparently, done as only Merzbow can! Lots of long, deep pulsing bass tones, very tranced out vibe. About as soft and warm as pure digital noise can be.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Totally psychedelic and hugely deep.
Just listened to it. Sounds like Throbbing Gristle crossed with Skull Disco, fucking amazing :D

Out of interest and not being sarcastic, how do you assess talent with this genre of music. I've checked some out and I just don't get it at all.

I'm sure that's the whole point and noise fans are sick of explaining this but it makes me want to eat rusty razorblades and go out and headbut some disabled kids.
So you're saying it had an effect on you? Can you say that about all music you hear?

I reckon if you don't listen to a lot of death metal, breakcore, gabber, other 'extreme' forms of music, you won't have an aural reference point when it comes to noise. I don't think it's anti-conformist, any more than ambient music is anti-conformist.

It's not just noise for the sake of noise, there's method and thematic qualities and even art to it. The beauty of dissonance, the psychedelic experience of listening to something your ears aren't meant to enjoy.

How do you measure talent? Same way as any other form of music. There are good tracks and bad tracks, Merzbow just seems to have a higher ratio of good to bad than some other noise artists. Loefah and Skream have done plenty of bad tracks, Photek has at least one bad album under his belt, the Beatles and Elvis both made their share of howlers, no one's immune to this rule.

Venerology is a fucking classic though, I'll be checking out Merzbuddah and Merzdub as soon as I get the chance.
