we shall see. if it had been CO or WA by themselves, i would have said yeah, but two states together will almost certainly win out in the long haul.
hemp is now legal there too so you'd see DEA and FDA raids on hemp farms... not good publicity and they know it. but that's up to 2nd term obama and his attorney general

I'm curious to see how this all plays out. There has been friction with the Feds for medical use, but now with legal general population possession?

direct quote from opponent Hickenlooper:
federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don’t break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly.
how can he not sit back and think about how dumb that sentence is, in Colorado of all places

Yes, fed is going to shit on this. Fed has been kicking in doors and locking up a lot of people here in cali, all of whom are completely legal under state law. This federal action is in direct contravention of BO's, and his ag's prior statements. Serious shit, people doing double digit years for this.
Also, any state or municipal official that institutes a regulatory scheme can be prosecuted under federal law. Swhy all the cities and counties here in Cali who were doing just that under state law, completely dropped the issue and said they won't touch it. That is why the City of Oakland is suing the feds. They spent millions setting up a regulatory scheme in reliance on federal statements.

this is a precedent, so there is no way to be certain what exactly is going to go down. i'd wager against federal involvement (after all, tell me you can't walk to an open dispensary from where you live in SJ ), but that might just be me hoping that common sense prevails.

Well then I enjoin you to move to CO set up a 100 plant farm, take some pictures, have your attorney draft a letter to the DEA stating that you intend to sell the harvested product within the state of CO under CO law.
I will send you a box of chocolates with a saw inside. Your best chance of seeing the sun again.

The U.S. Department of Justice reacted to the measure's passage in Colorado by saying its enforcement policies remain unchanged, adding: "We are reviewing the ballot initiative and have no additional comment at this time."
I have a little experience translating these legal statements. Let me take a crack:
The U.S. Department of Justice feels the head of your penis pressing firmly against our clenched sphincter, but despite our sphincter's inability to hold out for much longer, we are going to pretend that this is not happening.

Colorado is tits, lay off the cheese.
Anywho, this measure is actually gonna end up hurting a lot of people I know that work in the medical industry.
I'm happy that I might not have to watch my back as much but the industry is gonna be a whole lot less profitable and far more regulated.
Bittersweet :/

Basically it translates to what the medicinal dispensaries have been going through:
Even though you're paying state and federal taxes and are legal business and dispensary in your state, we're going to use said tax money you gave us as a profitable business to fund federal DEA raids to shut you down.
