I thought you didn't like house?

If the oldschool producers feel the need to move on, let them, it's a much better decision than seeing them stagnating within a style they're no longer feeling.

There will always be new cows making fresh milk.

That being the oddest metaphor I have ever typed into the internet.
Melodic deepness from my mind.

My understanding was that, at least in it's infancy, dubstep producers were just people who thought outside the box, did their own thing and collectively hovered around a similar aesthetic. All the old interviews/documentaries/whatever I check out are focused on the idea that there's no such thing as a "dubstep sound," that all the producers had very much their own unique vibe.

Doesn't it just make sense that people with that kind of drive would keep drifting and move on to making different kind of beats? Yea, it's sad that someone like Loefah isn't producing like he used to, but the drive that's making them move on is what made us love them in the first place, so you'll never see me getting angry about it.

this 100%

loefah realized it when he made that tune... dubstep had become a sound, instead of each person having their own.

idk if this is irrelevant, but what happened to old school producers like bukem, goldie, todd edwards, photek, and what are they up to these days. I know Goldie was at the skreamizm event, but maybe i'm missing something

Artists evolve. Dubstep will eventually die out like everything else, but it's what people make it and turn it into so that the memory lives. Heavy bass will last forever. People will always like loud music. Four on the floor, broken beats, glitchy synths, chopped up samples, rain drops, it's all a part of a trend somewhere. It all gets recycled though. In 15 years, there will be a new generation of kids creating minimalist EDM whilst trying to recreate Skream and Kode9 house music, and eventually those kids will evolve and there will be threads on here about them.
