why laugh at somebody whos at the same point you probably were when you started? think if that guy read your comments, and he stopped producing because of it, how much of an arsehole would you be? if this guy became one of the biggest producers going in 5 years time, I'm sure he'd be laughing at you then mate.

If a comment from me makes someone quit. They didn't have enough dedication to persevere through the indifference of a troll... Lmao lets use skrillex as an example. If he couldn't handle a youtube comment/forum post, he'd probably kill himself by now.

So you guys are saying its ok to take the piss out of someone who isn't as good a producer as you rather than help them develop

IMO it's just fine to laugh at others productions all you want, but don't tell them that you think their productions are shitty. Keep it to yourself and use it as your own little way to boost your confidence about your abilities. There's a fine line between musical self-esteem boosting and cockiness.

Laughing at others is cheapskate ego fulfillment. So they suck and your better. Instead of having short lived fun focus on self improvement.
Not having a dig at anyone, i just dont see the point.

You look really insecure about your abilities when you have to put down the skills of others.

Think of this way, you want to have the best car on the block. What do you do? a) Smash up the other cars, or b) By a better one?

My point is that pushing everybody else down is not the easiest, most beneficial, or most ethical way of being the best at a task, more effective would be to improve your own skills.

Anyway, we're all different amounts of shit. A black belt is a white belt who kept training...
I think laughing at yourself means to look back at how crap you used to be and be happy with how much you've improved. If you thought it meant to laugh at how good you are in comparison to others then that was a good point well made but if not then that was unrelated to what you said :P

But yeah on that note, look back at what you've done rather and think "Wow i've improved so much!" rather than take videos of people who have JUST started and laugh at them, because seriously, everyone starts out like that (well except the people born into a musical family i guess).

Example: When i first started i posted the SHITTEST song on facebook and got loads of likes for it and i was really pleased, however, my best mate told me that it wasn't that good and that i shouldn't big it up like it was (im guessing i had a case of the newbie-super-ego). But im just glad i had the support because if i hadn't and i had negative comments i wouldn't go on to be as good as i am now, so by laughing at others you're potentially preventing them from doing their best and not really helping your own skill apart from feeling that little bit better for being better than a new-comer -_-
