I was told I need mine out but they were just money grabbing, tried to get me into surgery the next day without explaining anything to me.

See i thought the same thing, they told me i needed mine removed immediately. That was 5 years ago.

aye same thing, every time i went for a check up they were saying i should think about getting them removed, never did and the swelling cleared up and I haven't had any problems for ages, dentist turn round and said "maybe they didn't need to come out after all"

gargling hot salty water around the wisdom teeth seemed to calm down the pain for me.

i have 3 come through, not a problem most of the time but occasionally one will flare up and the pain is ridiculous. Luckily it goes after a couple of hours, someone who works at a dentist told me these can be shortened by rubbing 'sensitive teeth' toothpaste on the rogue tooth. haven't tried it as yet though
