Yep, we did indeed go to the same one. What a fucking weekend that was.

It was probably the most "me" mix of hiphop, rave/breakcore and LOUDSHIT that I've ever seen... I did accidentally sit through about half an hour of Sean Lennon though.

Yeah that line up was basically as if someone had just booked stuff by all the people responsible for the cds I had been buying for the last couple years before the festival.

looks like it was a curveball after all.
La Petit Maison on Thursday night. Still, compared to some other editions, that's a pretty weak slot for one of their best venues in history. I've seen some great shit there on a Thursday night (kode9 in 2011 comes to mind, playing two BURIAL tracks #touchedbyangel)

I skipped that one, wasn't feeling it (checked a bit) and heard better sets from him prior to it (London/A'dam)

the sound was awesome though. Bass weight I remember. It was a hyperdub showcase in 2011so loads of 2011 signings I remember (funky stuff - Cooly G, DVA). Pretty sure he played two or three old cuts (Kode 9 Skeng remix I seem to recall?). He opened with Archangel and I believe later played that new tune on the Hyperdub 5 year LP... only time I ever seen kode9 though, so can't compare with older sets. A shame...would love to have caught a Memories of the Future live show.

Think I will be going this year, my first time! i'm on the continent and want a break from Croatia this summer.

also, why is it so cheap?? 4 days of music and camping for around 100 euros? madness. how big is dour in terms of people? what are showers, toilets etc like?

i don't think skream's the roots of dubstep all night: they stated in the mail they sent that it was on the first day (whereas roots of dubstep is supposed to be on saturday) and that it was a techno/disco/electro mix. which i'm really more interested in than a dubstep skream set tbh. the good news is that sgt pokes will be around - still hoping for dmz on saturday night.
the other names are terrible, though their d&b have never been good in the past few years..

That sketch seems to be a concept too, for all we know they scrapped half those ideas. Skream playing trendy electro gets you more visitors than El-B and Digital Mystikz playing DMZ and Ghost classics

I always found the toilets and showers at Dour pretty alright. I'm difficult when it comes to toilets and I always found a clean one.
Maybe I was just lucky.

yeah that kode9 set at dour was amazing. probably my biggest dour memory tbh - but this year'll only be my 4th time. the vibes were amazing.

Well, so far they've stayed true to the sketch though (only a few names I know)
But it did say: 'Thursday: La Petit Maison All Nighter with ????' and lo and behold we have an all-night Skream set playing Skreamizm style apparantly (so yeah, all kinds of music). I think there's a pretty good chance we're going to see a final program pretty close to the sketch (though you can count on at least 3-4 cancellations, like Skepta two years ago, that was a major BUMMER).
I think a portion of Skream could be a good alternative to some of the D&B: so far they have not impressed me, but who knows what old school / techstep names could still pop up.

As far as Dour and Hell comparison: I think overall Dour is still pretty nasty man. Last year was hell with three feet of mud (look up the pictures on google) but once you were inside the tents, it wasn't that much of a problem (main stage was fucked though). Accomodation: basic festival shit: Dixie toilets and crowded showers man. But it's chill though, camping D is pretty much a free-for-all and the party they had last year was awesome (I got fucked up good on Wednesday, was one DJ playing some decent funky with Mosca, Modeselektor, Martyn...).
