It`s always the students being nobs though, in general. Best places to go are where they`re kept to a minimum with a significant cross-section of real people present...

I recommend Mint Club, Stinky`s Peephouse and Northern Light for venues They generally attract a big range of people. Same with the West Indian centre at one of the psytrance or hard house nights!

I went to Northern Light last year for Basics? I remember well because I got mdizzled and went west in my house afterwards, fucked up the place sleepwalking I know it got shut in `06 though, I went to see Pendulum there twice as well as a 24hr DnB festival! A guy my mate knows was rebranding the Loft and after being told it was to make it look good and nothing to do with it`s drug-associated past he made a poster with the slogan `Putting the E`s back in Leeds`!

Fuck knows about stinkys but the garage is stupidly overpriced, I`m never off their ever again without a shit load of either cash or something else to get fucked on! What`s so special about north bar though? My mates bang on about it for some reason. The best night I`ve had in the past several years was at Slam Dunk in Leeds on a Friday! Not particularly studenty, the music is 95% good (if you like rock) and for some reason they have really fit dancers who can breathe fire

that's pretty funny about the loft. i think i went for a metropolis (could of been another night, i was only 16) but that's about it. great old tale about love leeds being raided and once police left they put on KRS ONE.

i only went to the garage recently cos ol' forumite was headlining. spent most of the night behind the car putting candy up my nose so didnt really get a feel for the club. venue wise it looked wicked but can't say i've had a proper night there. only reason i suggested it was due to the quality bookings they get in there.

i like north bar / wax / sela because majority of the punters are level headed, or geeky in their own way and they serve good quality ale / bourbons and generally speaking have a very good music ethic.

other than there, i only really go drinking in foleys, veritas or nation.

going down wire now for me is like going down to your local. as soon as i walk in i could tell you 90% of the people in there's name, so i try and avoid going there if i can.

Realised a few of my friends thought they were 'lads' on a weekend to Newcastle once. Didn't really keep in touch as much after that, felt embarrassed being out with them at some points. It's a form of madness.

I don't really trust this article...Vice is known to be a bit hipster-esque, and as clever as the reporter seemed among these "lads", he also seemed to be a bit of a "I'm from London, I'm geeky" type of guy, as seen by his mentioning of his hometown a few times and his dress sense.

The reality is, sadly these types of students do exist - but he did go to Newcastle, didn't he? I mean, it's hardly a 'proper' university right? And even then it seems he found some of the biggest nobs going. The reality is most students aren't like this: some are, and it's probably worse in the shitter uni's, but isn't that granted? The article shows that 15 years ago crap uni's didn't really exist on the scale of today, which is obvious. When they grew, the idiots grew...simple.

It's basically a new generation of people who go to awful universities, get awful degrees then fairly poor jobs. Maybe non-students aren't as silly with their slang, but go to many clubs on a weekend and you'll see people dressed like that.

Naa Newcastle Uni`s meant to be first rate, Northumberland is the shit pit.

To be honest with you, I reckon at least half of students are like this. Leeds Uni is also no worse than Leeds Metropolitan for it and I know because I meet the stnuc everywhere I end up going! The ones at Leeds uni are even worse because they`re so fucking stuck up about being at a supposedly good institution but still thick as too planks off paper
